About

Internationally acclaimed artists, Inkinen and Tamestit, make their debut with the Fondazione Arena Orchestra in a programme dedicated to two of the most revolutionary works in music history.

Berlioz’s symphony Harold in Italy (1834), less well known than the Symphonie fantastique, transforms the latter into a narrative, here in four episodes led by the solo viola, which gives voice to the Byronic protagonist.

The discovery of Stravinsky’s primal The Rite of Spring (1913) caused a sensation and was deemed scandalous; it was also immortalised in the classic animated film Fantasia in its depiction of the birth of life on Earth.
