Carmina Burana

Concerto

Carl Orff

About

Who has never heard of “O Fortuna” (Oh Fortune), the initial invocation of the Carmina Burana? Composed by Carl Orff between 1935 and 1936, this monumental stage cantata is divided into a prologue (Fortuna imperatrix mundi) (Fortune, the Empress of the world), five parts and a finale for a total of twenty-four pieces, whose languages include Latin, Middle High-German and Old Provençal. And, if “O Fortuna” has impressed you, wait until you hear the Carmina Burana in full (strictly in the Arena) on 1 September.
