Gilda Fiume

Gilda Fiume was born in Sarno and graduated in voice in 2009 from the Conservatory of Salerno with highest honors. Over the following two years, she perfected her skills at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia under the guidance of Renata Scotto. Since 2014, she has been a student of Mariella Devia.

A pure lyric coloratura soprano with a strong inclination towards the bel canto repertoire, over the years she has performed Lucia di Lammermoor numerous times in various theatres, including the San Carlo in Naples, Regio in Parma, and Seoul Arts Center; Amina in Bellini’s La Sonnambula at the Teatro Bellini in Catania and in Verona; the title role in Maria de Rudenz at the Wexford Festival; Donna Anna in Don Giovanni in Verona and La Coruña; Eleonora in Torquato Tasso for the Donizetti Festival; the title role in Norma conducted by Daniel Oren; and Violetta in La Traviata in Salerno.

She performs Gilda in Rigoletto at the Teatro Regio di Torino.

She took part in Marina Abramović’s project Seven Deaths of Maria Callas at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, performing Violetta in La Traviata.

In 2022, she made her debut at the Arena di Verona as Micaela in Carmen, returning there in 2023 as Violetta in La Traviata.

She made her US debut in 2022, singing Violetta once again at the Boston Symphony Hall, at the Cincinnati Opera Festival, and participating in a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Among her debuted roles are Mrs Ford in Falstaff, the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, Ophelia in Faccio’s Amleto, and Pamina in The Magic Flute.

Her recent engagements include her debuts as Lucia di Lammermoor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Elvira in I Puritani at the Teatro Regio di Torino, Norma at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, and her return to the stage of the Veronese amphitheatre for the 103° Arena Opera Festival 2026.
