At the Palazzo Maffei Teatrino, Rossini’s opera symphonies transcribed for wind quartet. A weekend packed with Fondazione Arena events, including world premieres, guided tours, and "Musica in Famiglia"

Music and art come together for the Fondazione Arena di Verona series, now in its third edition. Ten chamber music concerts across seven different venues, held on Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM, until November 29. The appointment on Sunday, April 19, already sold out, will take place in the Teatrino of Palazzo Maffei: the program features five new transcriptions of the most famous symphonies from Gioachino Rossini’s operas: William TellSemiramideThe Thieving MagpieCinderella and the lesser-known but highly original Signor Bruschino. Performing them is a wind quartet composed of Orchestra professors from Fondazione Arena: Chiara Ronchi Piccinelli (flute), Maurizio Trapletti (clarinetto), Paolo Guelfi (bassoon), and Andrea Leasi (horn), who is also the author of the transcriptions. Paired with the concert is a free tour of the rooms of the Palazzo Maffei House Museum, cultural partner of Fondazione Arena, which will also host the upcoming appointments on April 26 -already sold out- and May 10. Tickets are available for all other dates of the series, organized in synergy with Palazzo Maffei, the Civic Museums of Verona, Accademia Filarmonica, Biblioteca Capitolare, Circolo Unificato dell’Esercito, Accademia di Agricoltura Scienze e Lettere, and Museo Nicolis.Tickets for individual concerts and season passes, with special discounts for under-30s, are still on sale at arena.it, at the Arena Box Offices, and through the Vivaticket circuit.

SINGLE TICKETS. Each date can be purchased with a single ticket for 15 euros (reduced to 10 euros for under-30s). For all concerts (except for November 29 at the Museum of Frescoes), tickets are also on sale on-site on the morning of the event, subject to availability. Tickets include a free tour of the museum one hour before the concert. Those who purchase a single ticket for concerts at the Sala Maffeiana and/or the Circolo Unificato dell’Esercito can choose which of the five museums to visit, starting from the day after the concert until the end of the series.

SEVEN APPOINTMENTS WITH FONDAZIONE ARENA THIS WEEKEND. On Friday, April 17 at 8:00 PM, with a repeat performance on Saturday, the 18th at 5:00 PM, conductor Ramón Tebar and virtuoso Johannes Moser debut at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona for Dvořák’s captivating Cello Concerto in a double symphonic appointment with the Fondazione Arena Orchestra. Completing the program is the world premiere of Quadreria, a new commission from the Foundation to composer Carlo Galante, paired with Mussorgsky’s imaginative Pictures at an Exhibition in the spectacular orchestration by Ravel. Seats still available. Exceptionally, the concert will also be performed on Sunday, April 19 at 5:00 PM at the Teatro Sociale in Rovigo, marking the first regional tour for the artistic ensembles of Fondazione Arena.

Saturday morning, both the 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM sessions of Le sale della musica are almost entirely sold out: these are guided tours  of the Teatro Filarmonico led by Fondazione Arena staff.

Also on Saturday, April 18, at 3:30 PM in the Sala Filarmonica, the Musica in famiglia series presents the Opera in giallo format, which tells the story of Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci as an interactive investigation involving children and families, led by an actor with Fondazione Arena artists performing the opera's highlights. After three morning performances reserved for schools (already sold out), seats are still available for the final performance on Saturday afternoon.
