Musei in Musica returns to Palazzo Maffei, string trios by Haydn, Beethoven, and Schubert on Sunday, May 10th
The chamber concert on May 10th is close to sold out, dedicated to string trios of classical Vienna performed by the Orchestra professors of Fondazione Arena.
Over the weekend also the first opera for children and families and Beethoven’s Missa solemnis
A new appointment with Musei in Musica, the chamber music series by Fondazione Arena di Verona, will take place on Sunday 10 May at 11 am in the Teatrino of Palazzo Maffei Casa Museo. The concert, already close to sold out, features three string trios by three great composers of “classical” Vienna, the city that established the canon of symphonic and chamber music form for more than a century, already touched by the winds of Romanticism at the beginning of the 19th century. Antonino Enna on violin, Doriana Calcagno on viola and Marco Venturini on cello, members of the Fondazione Arena Orchestra, will perform String Trio No. 2 in B-flat major, op.53 by Franz Joseph Haydn, Trio No. 1 in B-flat major D471 by Franz Schubert and Trio No. 1 in E-flat major, op.3 by Ludwig van Beethoven. Rarely performed works that reveal each composer’s personal exploration within the music of the time, balanced between tradition and the first attempts at an original language and form.
Included with the concert is free admission to the rooms of Palazzo Maffei Casa Museo, cultural partner of Fondazione Arena, for the final 2026 event at this venue: Musei in Musica continues at other locations until November. The series is organized in synergy with Palazzo Maffei, the Civic Museums of Verona, the Philharmonic Academy, the Capitular Library, the Unified Army Officers’ Club, the Academy of Agriculture, Sciences and Letters, and the Nicolis Museum. Tickets for individual concerts, with special discounts for audiences under 30, are still available on the website arena.it, at the Arena Box Offices and through the Vivaticket circuit.
SINGLE TICKETS. Each event can be purchased with a single ticket costing 15 euros (reduced under30 ticket at 10 euros). For all concerts (except for 29 November at the Museum of Frescoes), tickets will also be available on site on the morning of the event itself, subject to seat availability. Tickets include complimentary museum admission one hour before the concert. Those purchasing single tickets for concerts in Sala Maffeiana and/or at the Unified Army Officers’ Club may choose which of the five museums to visit, starting from the day after the concert and until the end of the series.
OTHER EVENTS OVER THE WEEKEND. Beethoven also returns over the weekend in the Symphonic Season at the Teatro Filarmonico for an unmissable event: on Friday 8 May at 8 pm and Saturday 9 May at 5 pm, the Orchestra and Choir of Fondazione Arena will perform the monumental Missasolemnis for the first time. An extraordinary additional performance will take place at the Teatro Comunale di Vicenza on Sunday 10 May at 8.45 pm. On Saturday 9 May at 5 pm, the Arena stages Turandot.
