The Arena Opera Festival is increasingly accessible, thanks to its partnership with Müller
Fondazione Arena, with the support of the Accessibility Partner Müller, presents the second edition of ‘Arena per Tutti’, the initiative for an even more accessible Arena di Verona Opera Festival. Multisensory paths to discover the backstage, accessible trailers and theatre books, cards in easy-to-read language and 1,500 more seats reserved for people with sensory and intellectual disabilities. All in three languages: Italian, English and German. Discover the initiative, the materials and book your spot for the dedicated evenings.
The activity is coordinated by Professor Elena Di Giovanni with the support of Professor Francesca Raffi of the University of Macerata.
25 evenings of opera with Aida, Carmen, Barbiere di Siviglia and Turandot, from June to September, for the "Arena per Tutti" project. Compared to 2023, the initiative doubles the number of evenings from 10 to 25, during which everyone will be able to follow the opera with ad hoc supports and paths including audio description for the blind and specific subtitles for the deaf.
Between these 25 evenings, 10 will include the sensory itineraries that can already be booked. Check the calendar now.
Of the 25 evenings with accessibility services for the sensory and intellectually disabled, 10 also include the possibility of booking completely free, multisensory pathways completely free of charge, subject to booking at the link indicated below.
During these routes, people with disabilities and their carers will be accompanied on stage and will be able to explore the sets, costumes, and props, guided by the stage staff and by the skilful hands of those who have realised the performances down to the smallest detail in the Fondazione Arena workshops.
Each route is designed for people with different needs: consult the calendar below and book your date. For logistical reasons, each route is available for a maximum of 26 people.
In 2023, as part of the ‘Arena for All’ project, inclusive digital materials for people with sensory and intellectual disabilities were created for the operas Aida, La Traviata, Rigoletto and Nabucco, in Italian and English, with the intention of adding new ones in the coming years to make more and more operas fully accessible. The ‘Arena for all’ project includes accessible digital trailers and theatre books, subtitles for the deaf, audio descriptions for the blind, and opera cards in Easy to Read language. From this year in Italian, English and German.
