Musei in Musica brings Brahms to the Capitolare
The Sextets for the chamber concert in the historic library on May 3rd
The Musei in Musica event in one of the new 2026 venues is sold out: on Sunday, May 3rd, the Orchestra professors of Fondazione Arena will perform Brahms' two string sextets in the oldest working library in the world.
New horizons for the next appointment of Musei in Musica, the chamber music series of Fondazione Arena di Verona. On Sunday, May 3 at 11 a.m., six Orchestra members of Fondazione Arena will perform in the historic Biblioteca Capitolare of Verona. The monographic concert is dedicated to the performance of the two string sextets by Johannes Brahms, Op. 18 in B-flat major and Op. 36 in G major, refined works rarely performed that showcase Brahms’ contrapuntal mastery at its highest level, even with a reduced ensemble, balancing transparency and tender melodic expression. Performing them will be Vincenzo Quaranta, Quentin Capozzoli (violins), Giuseppe Mari, Antonio Bossone (violas), Sara Airoldi and Francesco Ferrarini (cellos).
Combined with the concert, a free visit to the rooms of the Biblioteca Capitolare, for this unique exceptional event. A unique place, whose heritage was frequented by Dante and Petrarch, and which is today the oldest library in the world still in operation. The concert is already sold out, but tickets are still available for all other dates in the series, organized in synergy with Palazzo Maffei, Musei Civici di Verona, Accademia Filarmonica, Biblioteca Capitolare, Circolo Unificato dell’Esercito, Accademia di Agricoltura Scienze e Lettere, and Museo Nicolis. In a May full of chamber and symphonic events, also on tour for the Arena forces, the next concert will be on Sunday, May 10, at the Teatrino of Palazzo Maffei Casa Museo, cultural partner of Fondazione Arena, with a program dedicated to the early string trios of Haydn, Beethoven, and Schubert. Tickets for individual concerts, with special discounts for audiences under 30, are still on sale on the website arena.it, at the Arena Box Offices and through the Vivaticket circuit.
SINGLE TICKETS. Each date can be purchased with a single ticket at 15 euros (reduced under30 at 10 euros). For all concerts (except November 29 at the Museo degli Affreschi), tickets are also available on site on the morning of the event, subject to availability. Tickets include a complimentary free visit to the museum one hour before the concert. Those who purchase a single ticket for concerts in the Sala Maffeiana and/or at the Circolo Unificato dell’Esercito may choose which of the five museums to visit, starting from the day after the concert and until the end of the series.
