Tenore
Yusif Eyvazov is a dramatic tenor with a flourishing international career. He was recently appointed director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in his home country, where he also holds the title of «People's Artist of Azerbaijan». He regularly performs on the stages of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Berlin State Opera, the Royal Opera House in London, the Paris National Opera and the Liceu in Barcelona. The “metallic, stentorian and distinctly Italian” sound of his voice (L.A. Times), and an exceptional stage presence allow him to combine an active operatic career with frequent concert performances. He has participated in numerous recordings including a complete live recording of Manon Lescaut from the Salzburg Festival and, together with soprano Anna Netrebko, the crossover album Romanza.
Highlights of the 2025/2026 season include La forza del destino at the Opernhaus Zürich, a concert in Istanbul, Turandot at the Royal Opera House in London, Tosca at the Opéra National de Paris and the Royal Opera of Muscat, as well as the role of Radames in Aida at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, Il Trovatore at the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Teatro Verdi in Trieste.
He recently performed Calaf (Turandot) in Seoul and Otello at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Alfredo in La Traviata at the Royal Opera of Muscat and Manrico (Il Trovatore) at the Berlin State Opera. He appeared in The Queen of Spades at the Vienna State Opera, where he was highly praised by critics, and in Aida at the Arena di Verona Festival. He has held concerts in Sofia, Budapest, Paris, Moscow, Vienna, Orange, Berlin, at the Thurn und Taxis Schlossfestspiele, Ljubljana and at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago.
He returns to the Arena di Verona for the 103° Opera Festival 2026.
