Matteo Macchioni

Matteo Macchioni obtained his degree in piano with highest honors in 2007, while simultaneously cultivating a passion for opera singing. In 2010 he made his debut at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Salerno in the role of Nemorino in L’Elisir d’amore, conducted by Daniel Oren. He took part in the production of Il Viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro as Cavalier Belfiore, after successfully participating in the Accademia Rossiniana chaired by Maestro Alberto Zedda.

Among his recent engagements are: Don Pasquale in Genoa and Rovigo, Don Giovanni at the Theater Freiburg; Guillaume Tell in Erl; Così fan tutte in Copenhagen; Rossini's Stabat Mater and Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Trieste and Macau; Gianni Schicchi in Empoli and Matera; Le Nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona; Il Paese dei campanelli in Martina Franca, La Cenerentola in Athens and Klagenfurt; I Puritani in Modena; Turandot, La Traviata, Nabucco and Rigoletto at the Arena di Verona; L'equivoco stravagante in Pesaro; Tosca at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Daniel Harding, recorded for Deutsche Grammophon; Ravel's L'Heure espagnole at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique in Paris; and Tosca at the Royal Opera House of Muscat.

He made his debut at the Teatro Filarmonico in 2023 with Le Nozze di Figaro for the opening of the 2023 Opera Season of the Fondazione Arena di Verona, where he also returned for Il Tabarro; for Il Flauto Magico, the opening title of the 2024 Season; and for Il Turco in Italia in 2025.

On the occasion of the 101° Opera Festival 2024, he made his debut at the Arena di Verona in the role of Pong in Turandot.

In 2025, for the 102° Arena di Verona Opera Festival, he performed Gastone in La Traviata, a production by Hugo De Ana, Borsa in Rigoletto, and Abdallo in Nabucco, in the new production by Stefano Poda.

He returns again in 2026 to the stage of the Veronese amphitheatre for the 103° Arena Opera Festival.
