Clémentine Margaine

Considered one of the most important mezzo-sopranos of her generation, the French mezzo-soprano Clémentine Margaine has achieved international acclaim in recent seasons at theatres such as The Metropolitan Opera, Opéra national de Paris, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro Colón, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Teatro di San Carlo, Opera Australia and Canadian Opera Company.

Shortly after graduating from the Paris Conservatory, Margaine was named “révélation classique” and received the Special Jury Prize at the Concours International de Marmande. She subsequently joined the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she sang her first performances of Carmen, a role for which she became internationally renowned and has since performed in New York, Munich, Rome, Naples, Washington, Dallas, Toronto as well as at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Liceu in Barcelona and the Arena di Verona.

On the concert stage, Clémentine Margaine sang Elijah in Berlin, Mozart's Requiem in Lisbon and Verdi's Requiem in Budapest. She also performed at Carnegie Hall with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra led by M° Riccardo Muti, and with Jonas Kaufmann for a European concert tour in Brussels, Paris and Bordeaux.

In the 2025/26 season: Tristan und Isolde, Les Contes d’ Hoffmann, Don Carlo, Giulio Cesare, Il Trovatore.

She made her debut at the Arena di Verona in 2021 as a soloist in Verdi's Messa da Requiem, returning in the title role of Carmen (2022, 2023, 2024) and as Amneris in Aida (2022, 2023, 2024). She was a soloist in the Domingo gala for the Verdi Opera Night (2022).

She takes the stage of the Veronese amphitheatre once again for the 103° Arena Opera Festival 2026.
