Spring in Verona begins with a double appointment by Fondazione Arena

The Colors of Vivaldi: an extraordinary concert featuring the principal players of the Arena Orchestra, Saturday, March 21 at 3:30 PM in Sala Maffeiana. Screening of the film Shakespeare in Love at the Teatro Filarmonico at 6 PM for the Music and Cinema series.

Unreleased concert and Oscar-winning film on March 21st

Events bloom on the first day of spring. Saturday, March 21st, on the eve of the staging of Falstaff, Fondazione Arena brings to life two different events. At 3:30 PM, in Sala Maffeiana, the concert The Colors of Vivaldi. At 6:30 PM, at the Teatro Filarmonico, the screening of the film Shakespeare in Love.

THE COLORS OF VIVALDI. Antonio Vivaldi is much more than the famous concertos dedicated to the Four Seasons: on the first day of spring, Fondazione Arena di Verona offers the opportunity to discover a part of the "Red Priest's" enormous musical legacy. A prolific composer of operas, sacred and instrumental music, Vivaldi wrote over 600 concertos and sonatas. Saturday, March 21st, at 3:30 PM in the prestigious Sala Maffeiana, the Orchestra of Fondazione Arena and its principal players present six of them, for one or two solo instruments, in an extraordinary concert to discover a multicolored world with Lorenzo D’Antò (flute), Quentin Capozzoli and Vincenzo Quaranta (violins). In the program, the concertos titled “La Notte”, “Tempesta di mare”, “Cardellino”, “Favorito” and the two op. 3 n. 8 and 11. Full tickets at 10 euros, reduced for under-30 and over-65 groups at 5 euros.

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE. Also on Saturday, March 21st, at 6 PM, the Teatro Filarmonico transforms into a movie theater. The new Music and Cinema series brings to the big screen, before each title of the 2026 Opera and Ballet Season, a cult film in its original language with Italian subtitles, creating a dialogue between different arts and enriching the city's cultural offer. On Saturday 21st, Shakespeare in Love will be screened, a romantic connection to the opera Falstaff and the exploits of the merry wives of Windsor. The 1998 film, directed by John Madden, narrates the love of the writer William Shakespeare born during the preparation of Romeo and Juliet for a noblewoman, Lady Viola. Shakespeare in Love was awarded 3 BAFTAs, 3 Golden Globes and a total of 7 Oscars out of 13 nominations, including best picture, best costumes, best original score and best screenplay (by Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman). Stellar cast: Joseph Fiennes, Gwyneth Paltrow, Judi Dench (both Oscar winners for this film), Geoffrey Rush, Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, Ben Affleck. Tickets at 5 euros on sale online and at the Box Offices in via Dietro Anfiteatro and via Roma.
