FALSTAFF by Giuseppe Verdi
Wednesday, March 25 7:00 PM
Friday, March 27 8:00 PM
Sunday, March 29 3:30 PM
Teatro Filarmonico, Verona
Until March 29, it will be possible to attend the performances of Verdi's Falstaff. Based on the comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor and scenes from the epic Henry IV, Sir John Falstaff, Shakespeare's brilliant anti-hero, reaches the operatic stage thanks to Giuseppe Verdi's music and Arrigo Boito's eclectic libretto. Behind the curtain, the quiet, bourgeois Windsor becomes a dynamic and slanted landscape, shaken by the bulk and personality of Falstaff, a fallen and no longer young noble, yet anything but resigned. The cast is led by Marco Filippo Romano, debuting as Falstaff. The merry wives of Windsor include Marta Mari as Alice Ford, Vittoriana De Amicis as Nannetta her daughter, Marianna Mappa as Meg Page, and Anna Maria Chiuri as Mrs Quickly. In the role of the jealous husband Ford, Luca Micheletti; as Fenton, Marco Ciaponi. Completing the cast are Blagoj Nacoski as Doctor Caius, Matteo Macchioni and Mariano Buccino as Falstaff's followers, Bardolfo and Pistola. On the Veronese podium, Maestro Giuseppe Grazioli leads the soloists, the Orchestra of Fondazione Arena, and the Chorus prepared by Roberto Gabbiani. The production comes from the Teatro Regio di Parma and combines the verve of the original dramaturgy with a British touch and contemporary pop for a rhythm always in step with Verdi's brilliant gift of music: the director is the award-winning Jacopo Spirei, with sets by Nikoalus Webern, costumes by Silvia Aymonino, and lighting by Fiammetta Baldiserri.
WAITING FOR BEETHOVEN
The second concert of the Waiting for Beethoven series, which presents the complete cycle of the Bonn composer's instrumental symphonies performed by the Orchestra of Fondazione Arena, has been sold out for some time. On Saturday, March 28, at 3:30 PM, in the Sala Filarmonica, Maestro Aram Khacheh will take the podium for the grace of the Second Symphony in D and the powerful "fate knocking at the door" of the world-famous Fifth. Great music will continue in April with the launch of the 2026 Symphonic Season featuring soloists and conductors of international prestige, tackling masterpieces of the repertoire and world premieres. It is still possible to purchase subscriptions, carnets, and individual tickets for each date at the link arena.it/it/teatro-filarmonico, at the Arena Box Offices, and through the Vivaticket network.
