Anna Netrebko has unfortunately been forced to withdraw from her two performances of Aida, scheduled for 10 and 17 August at the Arena di Verona, for personal reasons.

“I deeply regret the disappointment this may cause to audience members who had planned to hear me reprise my role in this wonderful Stefano Poda production,” the soprano stated. “I look forward to my three performances in Nabucco next month, which will mark my seventh consecutive year at the Arena Opera Festival. I look forward to returning to this iconic venue in 2026.”

Anna Netrebko debuted at the Arena di Verona in 2019 as Leonora in Il Trovatore and has since returned every summer, even in the editions affected by the pandemic, in ever new and different productions. She starred as Aida to open the 100th Festival, in Stefano Poda’s production and will be performing Abigaille for the first time in Italy, in our new Nabucco.

In fact, Anna Netrebko has confirmed her participation in three performances of Nabucco: the singer will perform the role of Abigaille on the evenings of 17, 24 and 31 July. It will be the first opportunity to see her in this part of Italy, as well as the only one in 2025, after her debut in Berlin a few months ago in one of the most exciting and challenging roles of all of Verdi's oeuvre.
