Restaurants, Pizzerias and Bars
Verona is rich with restaurants and pizzerias which offer a range of traditional dishes, like gnocchi, various types of soups, risotto and the typical dish of boiled beef with a very traditional veronese peppered sauce called "pearà". Not to be forgotten are the Veronese wines which are known internationally.
Names like Bardolino, Valpolicella, Soave, Recioto and Amarone are exported and enjoyed all around the world.
Dining after hours
It is tradition for many opera spectators to wander in search of refreshments after the performance. For their convenience various restaurants remain open around Pizza Bra and in the streets around the Amphitheatre and in the surrounding area of Piazza delle Erbe, until the early hours of the morning.
Shopping
Via Mazzini is the busiest and most fashionable street in the city and is famous for its shops and boutiques; it can be found at the North end of Piazza Bra. Parallel to and not far from Via Mazzini is the Corso Porta Borsari, another street famous for its designer clothes and shoe shops.
