Andrea Lucchesini
In July 2001 Andrea Lucchesini performed the new Sonata for pianoforte by Luciano Berio in the world première in Zurich, continuing a pleasant collaboration which began with the Concert II "Echoing curves" by the same author, given by Lucchesini all over the world and recorded with the London Symphony for BMG. The Sonata will also be performed in France, Spain, Portugal, Holland and England.

Interest in the twentieth-century style, as well as the choice of programmes, is confirmed by many discographic recordings - Pierrot Lunaire by Schoenberg and Kammerkonzert by Berg - carried out for the Teldec with the Dresdner Staatskapelle conducted by Giuseppe Sinopoli.

Andrea Lucchesini was born in 1965 and was trained at the Maria Tipo School. He became known on an international level in 1983 with his victory in the "Dino Ciani" competition, at the Teatro alla Scala in Milano. From then on he played with the most prestigious orchestras, collaborating with conductors like Claudio Abbado, Semyon Bychkov, Roberto Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Dennis Russel Davies, Charles Dutoit, Daniele Gatti, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Daniel Harding and Giuseppe Sinopoli.

In 1994 an international jury of musicologists, valuing the results of such an extensive concert activity, awarded Lucchesini the prestigious "Accademia Chigiana" Prize, to which he added, in 1995, the "F.Abbiati" Prize of the Critics.

He also dedicated himself with passion to the chamber music repertoire, participating in various international festivals and began a close relationship with the cellist Mario Brunello, with whom he has been animating for the past ten years, the "encounters with chamber music", under the auspices of the Turin Musical Union.

Andrea Lucchesini has been busy since Autumn 1999 and will be busy until Spring 2004, with, among other things, the unabridged versions of the Sonatas for pianoforte and Concerts for pianoforte by Beethoven at the most important musical institutions.

Some of his future commitments include his collaboration with the Arditti Quartet, and concerts in Barcelona, Budapest, Lisbon and Paris.
