Mikhail Kaniskin 

Born in Moscow, Mikhail Kaniskin began his training at the Bolshoi Ballet School. He continued his studies at the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart and won a scholarship at the Prix de Lausanne. In 1997 he joined the company Stuttgarter Ballet. In 2001 he was promoted to demi-soloist, in 2002 he became a soloist and at the beginning of 2004 he was appointed lead dancer.

With the Stuttgarter Ballet he plays: Onegin, Romeo and Juliet, Poème de l'Extase and Cranko's Swan lake; Giselle by Reid Anderson and Valentina Savina; The Lady of the Camellias and Streetcar Named Desire by John Neumeier; The Sleeping Beauty by Marcia Haydee , Edward II by David Bintley; Symphony in C, Theme and Variations, Four Temperaments, Čajkovskij’s Pas de Deux, Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto by George Balanchine; Le Sacre du Printemps by Glen Tetley; Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, In the Middle Somewhat Elevated and Love Songs by William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian's Forgotten Land, Suite 7 and Symphony by Uwe Scholz, Dances at a Gathering by Jerome Robbins, Mikhail Fokine's Les Sylphides; 5 Tangos and Kleines Requiem by Hans Van Manen.

In 2007 he joined the Staatballett in Berlin as a lead dancer and he danced: George Balanchine's Apollo; Flammende Herz, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Giselle by Patrice Bart, Caravaggio by Mauro Bigonzetti; Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude by William Forsythe, The Peri and The Sleeping Beauty by Vladimir Malakhov; Kenneth MacMillan's Manon, La Sylphide by Peter Schaufuss; Bruch Violin Concerto 1 of Clark Tippet.

He plays shows in the world premiere as: Kazimir Colors of Mauro Bigonzetti; Hikarizetto by Itzik Galili, Lulu - A Monstre Tragedy, Nocturne, Carlotta's Portrait, Le Grand Pas de Deux, La Peau Blanche and The Seventh Blue by Christian Spuck; Dream Deep Down by Kevin O'Day; Aubade and Cindys Gift of Douglas Lee, A Midsummer Night `s Dream and E = mc2 by Jean Christophe Blavier.

He has performed on tour in the United States, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Italy, France, Egypt and Luxembourg. In 2013 he won the award "Best Duet" at the International Ballet Award DANCE OPEN in St. Petersburg.

He debuted at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona in the 2012-2013 season by Fondazione Arena, in the performance of Cercando Verdi by Renato Zanella, revived in August at the Teatro Romano in Verona.
