Nikos Lagousakos is a graduate of the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) of the Theaterschool of Amsterdam with a Bachelor in Choreography.
He worked as an assistant mass choreographer for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Athens Olympic Games in 2004 and the Winter Olympics of Turin in 2006. At the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympics that year, he was a choreographer.
Amongst others he has choreographed and/or directed: the Opening Ceremony of the World Championship of Fencing in Turin in 2006, the Opening Ceremony of the European Championship of Taekwondo in 2008 and the Opening Ceremony of the World Championship of Acquatics in Rome in 2009.
He collaborated with the Italian company Studio Festi from 2007 till 2010. After having worked with more than 60.000 volunteer and professional performers around the world in 2009 he founded the PLITHOS dance company in Milan and presented the NON SOLO series in various festivals in Italy.
In the last 3 years he has worked as choreographer for various operas in some of the most prestigious festivals and theatres of Europe such as The Salzburg Festspiele, Zurich Opernaus, Arena di Verona, etc. In July 2013 he will have his debut as a director for an opera, at the Festival Del Valle D’Itria with Maria Di Venosa of Francesco D’Avalos.
In 2012 he choreographed the world tour INEDITO of Laura Pausini and he was a guest professor at USC of Los Angeles teaching Choreography. In May he choreographed the Opening number of the Final evening of the 2012 EUROVISION song contest in Baku Azerbaijan.
