
Francesco Girondini was born in Verona in 1961.
He has held the position of General Manager of the Fondazione Arena di Verona since the month of April 2008.
During the preceding year, he held the post of Operational Director of the Arena di Verona Opera Theater. He served as Secretary General for Culture and Education of the Regione Veneto (regional administration) from 2000 to 2005.
From 1994 to 1998 he served as Deputy Mayor of Verona with responsibilities including Commerce, Roads, Parks, Traffic, Municipal Police and Labor.
He continued to be involved in city politics as a member of the City Council from 1998 to 2000.
For several years he was professionally involved in contemporary art as he owned an Art Gallery from 1987 to 1994 as well as from 2000 to 2004; in the same period he acted as artistic consultant for various private Italian art collections.
In the musical field, he conceived the Festival “Villaggi Sonori” (resounding villages) in collaboration with the Venice Biennale Musica (2001), the Contemporary Music Festival “Nuove Forme” (new forms) in collaboration with Fondazione Atlantide di Verona (2002 and 2003) and headed the organizational coordination from 2002 to 2005 of the activity of the regional Orchestra of the Regione Veneto Conservatories.
In 2009 he was appointed Sole Director of Arena Extra, an instrumental company of Fondazione Arena di Verona.
Since February 2011 he holds the position of President of A.N.FO.L.S. - National Association of Lyric Foundations.
Since March 2011 he is member of the Music and Entertainment Council established at the Italian Ministry for Cultural Activities and Heritage.
Since November 2011 he is President of the National Pole of High Specialization of Performing Arts called Opera Academy Verona.
Since June 2012 he is the Sole Director of AMO, the first museum of opera.
He is the President of the Veneto Region Commission for Centenary Celebrations 2013.
