Andrea Battistoni 

Born in Verona in 1987 Andrea Battistoni is one of rising young talent in the international musical scene. In January 2011 he has been appointed First Guest Conductor at Teatro Regio of Parma, with a three-years agreement for two operatic and two symphonic productions every year. 

He early started a conducting career which bring him to perform in some notable theatres like Theater Basel, Verdi/Trieste, San Carlo/Naples, Filarmonico/Verona, La Fenice/Venice, Lirico/Cagliari, Massimo/Palermo, Regio/Parma; he conducted also some prestigeous orchestras: St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Royal College of Music Orchestra Manchester, Orchestra dell’Arena di Verona, Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, Orchestra Haydn di Bolzano e Trento. 

He performed in different festivals like “Michelangeli” of Brescia and Bergamo, VeronaContemporanea, Festival Giovane at Rossini Opera Festival, Valle d'Itria of Martina Franca, Settimane Musicali di Stresa e del Lago Maggiore, Festival Verdi of Parma; he met distinguish soloists as Ivo Pogorelich, Enrico Dindo, Sergej Krylov, Thomas Demenga, Mario Brunello. 

Andrea Battistoni has already conducted some operas: La bohème, Il viaggio a Reims, Il matrimonio segreto, Attila and La traviata. Recent engagements include 2011 season opening concert at Teatro Regio of Parma and the return at Pomeriggi Musicali and Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana. 

Recently he has conduct a symphonic program at Teatro Lirico of Cagliari, Il barbiere di Siviglia in Parma, Arena di Verona and Venice, the symphonic debut with the Maggio Musicale Orchestra of Florence, Rigoletto in Macerata. Rigoletto and symphonic concerts at Filarmonico of Verona, Falstaff at Festival Verdi in Parma and Nabucco in Tokyo with Tokyo Philharmonic, he make his debut at Teatro alla Scala of Milano with the historic production of Le Nozze di Figaro and at Teatro Regio in Parma with “Stiffelio”; In the next future he will perform Il trovatore in concert form at Philharmonie Berlin with Deutsche Oper Berlin Orchestra, La Boheme in Naples and Traviata at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

Andrea Battistoni started his musical studies at the age of seven with Petra and Zoltan Szabò, continuing then at the Conservatory of Music of his city and graduating in cello in 2006, also attending master classes with the cellist Michael Flaksman in Germany, graduating in 2009. He began to study conducting and composition in 2004, training with Ennio Nicotra in Perugia and Russia, with Gabriele Ferro at Fiesole Music School in Florence, with Gianandrea Noseda at Accademia Musicale di Stresa. He was assistant of Piercarlo Orizio and he followed master classes with Giuliano Serembe and Alberto Zedda. 

In June 2008 he made his orchestral debut at “Michelangeli” International Music Festival in Bergamo with Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto and in October 2008, thanks to Maurizio Barbacini whom he was assistant, he made his operatic debut with La bohème at Basel Theatre.
