
Already celebrated during the last few years for appearances at the Teatro Malibran in Venice and Teatro Piccini in Bari as Musetta in
La Bohème, Daniela Schillaci recently made her highly acclaimed debut as Mimi. 2009 also marked an important role debut for the soprano as
Violetta at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina.
After receiving her degree in singing with the highest praise, Daniela Schillaci was named “Best Young Singer” at the Giuseppe di Stefano Vocal Competition in Trapani. That same year the artist made her debut in
Cosi fan tutte (Despina) at the Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa di Savona and in
Werther in Spoleto. She subsequently appeared in many roles of the lirico-leggiero fach in prestigious theaters such as Oscar in
Un ballo in maschera in Venice and Catania, and
Musetta in La bohème in Rome, Florence, Trieste, Torre del Lago. She has also appeared as Nannetta in
Falstaff, Lisa in
La Sonnambula, Elisetta in
Matrimonio segreto, Serpina in Paisiello’s
La Serva padrona, Papagena in
Die Zauberflöte, I
l barbiere di Siviglia,
Gianni Schicchi, and
il cappello di paglia di Firenze.
Recent highlights also include one of the leading roles of Menotti’s
Telephone in Catania. The artist also took part in a production of Dukas’
Ariane et Barbe-bleu and Massenet’s
Thais at the Teatro Regio in Turin, a Robert Carsen production of
Elektra conducted by Seiji Ozawa at the Maggio Musicale in Florence, and
Carmen in Rome.
Ms. Schillaci has collaborated with conductors Gianluigi Gelmetti, Daniel Oren, Günther Neuhold, Zubin Mehta, Roberto Abbado Bruno Campanella Semyon Bychkov, Alain Lombard and conductors Pier Luigi Pizzi, Jonathan Miller, Robert Carsen, Filippo Crivelli, Pier’Alli.
The artist has recorded Giovanni Paisiello’s
Il Socrate immaginario for the Bongiovanni label.
