Francesco Anile was born in Polistena and received his diploma in clarinet studies and singing at the Francesco Cilea College of Music in Reggio Calabria. He continued his musical education with Aldo Protti, Ottavio Taddei and Renata Scotto and has won a large number of competitions, such as the Toti Dal Monte competition in Treviso and the Mario Del Monaco competition in Marsala.
He has appeared at major opera venues in Italy, including the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Teatro Verdi in Sassari, the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna and the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, in works such as Tosca (Cavaradossi), Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton), Il Tabarro (Luigi), La Traviata (Alfredo), Nabucco (Ismaele), Aida (Radames), Il Trovatore (Manrico), Rigoletto (the Duke of Mantua), Otello (title role), Cavalleria Rusticana (Turiddu) and Carmen (Don Josè).
Mr. Anile's recent commitments have included the Arts Center in Seoul in Otello and Aida, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and Zagabria in Cavalleria Rusticana, Zagabria in Verdi's Requiem, the Daegu National Theater in Korea in Madama Butterfly, the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca and the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna in Il Tabarro, the Teatro Verdi in Trieste in Iris by Mascagni, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna in Norma, Palermo and Lucca in Manon Lescaut (Des Grieux), Rome in the summer season at the Teatro dell’Opera in Aida (Radames), in Como, Brescia, Cremona and Pavia in Turandot and in Palermo in Aida.
In 2009, Mr. Anile made two major debuts in his career: at the Verona Teatro Filarmonico in Turandot and at the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino in Florence in I Pagliacci directed by Franco Zeffirelli. That year he also appeared in Il Trovatore in Las Palmas, Cavalleria Rusticana in Cagliari, I Pagliacci in Palermo (directed by Donato Renzetti) and in Norma on the Lombardy opera circuit.
During 2010, he appeared in Norma in Trento, Manon Lescaut at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, I Pagliacci in Chieti, Tosca in Limoges, Aida in Palermo, Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci in Trapani and Il Trovatore in Macao. He recently made his debut at La Scala in Milan singing Cavalleria Rusticana, returned to Florence for Manon Lescaut and the double role of Canio-Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana and appeared once more in I Pagliacci in Reggio Calabria. Mr. Anile's 2011 commitments include Turandot in Palermo, Aida at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and L’inno delle nazioni by Verdi in Sassari. The upcoming engagements include I Pagliacci in Mumbai and Mascagni’s Iris at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona.
