Eufemia Tufano 
SOPRANO 
Eufemia undertook her musical studies at Conservatoire of Salerno, where she graduated.
She specialized in baroque music with Maestro Antonio Florio, at the Conservatoire of San Pietro a Maiella.
She also pursued further studies with S. Segalini P. Grassi at the Academy of Martina Franca, S. Lowe, Robert Kettelson.

She has developed her musical versatility by the continuous collaboration with the Festival of Valle d’Istria in Martina Franca, where she played numerous concerts and operas: Paisiello’s Moses in Egypt, Massenet’s Werther (version for baritone), Giordano’s Siberia, Donizetti’s Peter the Great, Mayerbeer’s Semiramide, Sarro’s Achilles in Skyros, Massenet’s Hèrodiade, JS Bach’s Matthäus Passion.

She debuted in 2000, when she sang in Cinderella in Siena, and Le jongleur de Notre-Dame in the opening season at Opera di Roma, under the conduction of Gianluigi Gelmetti.
She sang in Carmen at the Ravenna Festival, conducted by Maestro Patrick Fourniller, directed by Misha Van Hoecke.
Important higlights include: La Clemenza di Tito (Annie) at the Opera Circuit in Lombardy in 2001, Puccini’s Il Trittico, which inaugurated the 2002 season of Opera di Roma, conducted by M° G. Gelmetti and directed by Roberto De Simone.
She also took part in: Cinderella at San Carlo in Naples, L’italiana in Algeri at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and Händel’s Giulio Cesare at Teatro Comunale di Bologna, conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini and directed by Luca Ronconi.
In 2004 she played Flora in an acclaimed production of La Traviata conducted by Lorin Maazel and arranged by director Robert Carsen, which officially reopened La Fenice in Venice after the fire of 1996, and she was Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther at Teatro Verdi di Salerno.
In recent years she has played Edwige in Händel’s Rodelinda, conducted by Maestro Alan Curtis at the Konzerthaus in Vienna and she has sung in the opera Bellini – Last lights by Marco Betta in Lecce.
She was Fenena in Nabucco in Cagliari, under the conduction of M° Abbado and Meg in Falstaff, conducted by Jeffrey Tate at the opening of the 2007 season of San Carlo in Naples.
In the same year, she was Fenena again at the Opera Royal de Walloine in Liege, Belgium; and she played the same role once more in the summer of 2008 in the revival of Nabucco at the Arena di Verona, conducted by Daniel Oren and directed by Denis at Krief. She performs Pulcinella by Stravinsky at the Philarmonic in Verona.
She also goes in for Lieder and oratorio, a repertoire that ranges from Bach, Purcell and Scarlatti to Stravinsky, de Falla and Weill.
A particular notice: her Liederabende, dedicated to Schumann, Wagner, Berg, Mahler and Strauss and her execution of music by Berlioz, Spohr, Caikovsky and Respighi.

She has also sung on several occasions Mozart’s Requiem and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater at Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
In 2009 she reported important debuts: Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater with M° Antonio Florio, at the Auditorium of the Casa della Musica in Oporto, in Vinci’s Partenope, on a Spanish tour (Leon, Santander, La Coruna and Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville), at San Carlo in Naples (June 2009), the role of Adalgisa in Norma at Politeama in Lecce, the role of Regana in Cagnoni’s King Lear at the Festival of Martina Franca in July.
In 2009 she also sang Verdi’s Otello at the Barbican Center in London, under the conduction of Sir Colin Davis.
In 2010 she was again Fenena in Nabucco in Cosenza at Teatro Politeama directed by M° Oren and the direction of Gigi Proietti, and at Teatro Politeama Greco in Lecce.
She played the role of Emilio in Vinci’s Partenope at Teatro La Maestranza in Seville, conducted by M° A. Florio.
Further highlights include Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater in the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio conducted by M° S. Pescetti, Fenena conducted by Daniel Oren for the inauguration of Masada Theatre in Israel, Eurilla in Sarro’s Serenade in three voices: Niso, Eurilla e Egle, conducted by M° Florio at Chez Dieu (France), Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona.
In May 2011 she was in Murcia, where she was awarded the Campoamor Price as the best representation and interpretation of the year for Vinci’s Partenope, and she sang again the role of Emilio.
Also, in May, we found her in the auditorium of Casa della Musica in Oporto, singong Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater conducted by M° Florio.
In the summer she sang the role of Fenena at Greek Theather of Taormina (July) and in in Verona for the summer season (August and in September).
In September she played Adalgisa in Norma at Teatro di Catania, under the conduction of M° Veronesi.
In March 2012, she sang the role of Carmen (Bizet) at Politeama in Lecce, while in May she played Beppe in L’Amico Fritz at Teatro Verdi di Trieste.

Future plans include: Roméo et Juliette (Stephano) at the Arena di Verona, for the 90th Opera Festival.
