The Belgian soprano Isabelle Kabatu, graduated from the Musical Conservatory in Nice with Maestro Jean-Pierre Blivet.
In 1994, she was awarded the 1st Prize in the Competition “G.B. Viotti” in Varallo, she debuted in La Traviata
at the Coliseum in Lisbon as well as in La Bohéme
at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and at the Opera in Nice, and as Leonora in Il Trovatore
at the Theatre of the Opera in Palma de Maiorca.
In 1996 she made her début at the Houston Grand Opera to perform the role of Bess in Porgy And Bess
, successfully sang also at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, at the opera Bastille in Paris and at the Bunkamura Theatre in Tokyo.
After extraordinary success at the Glimmerglass Festival in New York with Madama Butterfly
, Isabelle Kabatu has been invited to perform all the roles in her repertory in major Opera Houses: Tosca
at the Vienna State Opera, Madama Butterfly
in various theatres including San Francisco, Teatro Real in Madrid, Sao Carlo in Lisbon, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Arena di Verona, Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Theatre of the Opera in Rome where she also performed Aida
She also has extensive experience singing German repertoire. In 2003 she made her début in the role of Venus in Wagners’ Tannhäuser
in Zurich and she has been invited to sing the title role in Strauss’ Salome
at the Opera of Köln where has obtained previous success.
In 2008 she performed in Massenet’s Le Cid
opposite Josè Cura in a new production at the Zurich Opera House, a venue where she has also performed Tosca
. She sang in Il Tabarro
in a new production at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
In 2008, she performed in the role of Aida at the Arena di Verona.
In 2009 she will return to Toulouse to sing I Dialoghi delle Carmelitane and at the Arena di Verona in Serata di Gala con Placido Domingo.
