Fabio Maria Capitanucci 
In 1998, the young baritone Fabio Maria Capitanucci won the Concorso per Cantanti Lirici della Comunità Europea del Teatro Lirico Sperimentale “Belli” [the “Belli” Experimental Opera House Competition for Opera Singers of the European Community] in Spoleto. In 2002, he was awarded the Premio “Bruson” [“Bruson” Prize] for the first production in which he sang.

In the two-year period 1999-2001, he was a student at the Accademia di Perfezionamento per Cantanti Lirici [Academy of Specialisation for Opera Singers] of the Teatro alla Scala. He began an on-going working partnership with the Teatro alla Scala in Milan (under the conductorship of Riccardo Muti), where he sang in La Bohème and Un Giorno di regno, among other operas. Subsequently, he sang at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo in Le Nozze di Figaro and in Don Giovanni. As part of the repertoire of sacred and symphonic works, he sang in Lorenzo Perosi’s La Cena del Signore [part of the oratorio La Passione di Cristo] and Orff’s Carmina Burana. He has sung in a number of operas at important national and international opera houses. These include L’Elisir d’amore and Il Viaggio a Reims at the Opera in Frankfurt, La Bohème at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Le Nozze di Figaro in Torino and Madama Butterfly, La Bohème and Manon at La Scala in Milan. In addition, there were appearances in Candide at the Carlo Felice in Genoa, Don Giovanni at the Teatro Regio in Turin, Roberto Devereux in Pamplona and Così fan tutte in Hamburg and Genoa. Others were in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Semperoper in Dresden, La Bohème in Dresden and at the Teatro Real in Madrid and La Cambiale di matrimonio in Pesaro. He has a number of noteworthy forthcoming engagements. Among these are appearances in Le Nozze di Figaro, a new production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola, and Turandot, all at the Semperoper in Dresden. He will also sing in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Opéra in Marseilles, Così fan tutte at La Scala in Milan and La Cenerentola at the Liceu in Barcelona and the Grand Théâtre in Geneva. Other roles will be in Le Nozze di Figaro and I Puritani at the Teatro Real in Madrid and Falstaff in Vienna.

In the summer of 2007 at the Arena, he will take the part of Marcello in La Bohème.
