Vincenzo Taormina begins his vocal studies as well as the degree Course in Architecture in the city of Palermo, Italy. In 2000 he moves to Bologna in order to be trained by M° Paride Venturi, his main Maestro, and since 2003 lives in Milano. In the meanwhile he attends severals singing masterclasses with: Michael Aspinall, Lorenzo Arruga, Margaret Baker-Genovesi, Carlo Bergonzi, Enza Ferrari, Renato Bruson, Ruggero Raimondi, Raina Kabaivanska, Ernesto Palacio, Christa Ludwig, Leo Nucci, Gianni Raimondi, Leyla Gencer, Luigi Alva, Luciana Serra.
He also graduates at “Accademia Verdiana Carlo Bergonzi” in Busseto after being trained by M° Bergonzi in vocal interpretation.
Vincenzo Taormina makes his debut in “Messa in Sol Maggiore” by F. Schubert with choir and orchestra of the G. B. Martini Conservatoire of Bologna at the “Europa” Hall in the Congress Center of Bologna and, in the same city, at S. Giacomo Maggiore’ s Church. He sings at the Markgrafen Theater of Erlangen, Nürnberg, in Monteverdi’s “Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria”, in the roles of Tempo, Nettuno e Antinoo.
In celebration of G. Verdi’s death Centenary he attends a tournèe in Canada, “From Monteverdi to Verdi”, in Vancouver, Montréal, Trail, Ottawa, organized by the Ambassy, the Consulates and the Italian Institutes of Culture where sings the second act of Traviata (Germont) and arias of G. Verdi. He sings at the “Olivella” Church in Palermo the Oratorio “Davidis Pugna Et Victoria” by A. Scarlatti (Textus role) in the “Scarlatti Festival” for the Teatro Massimo di Palermo Fondation.
He is invited to represent Italy at the international Festival “Marie Kraia” in the National Theater of Tirana, in front of the albanian Head of State and twenty-two Ambassadors. He sings in “Messa di Gloria in Fa Maggiore” by P. Mascagni with the Orchestra Gavazzeni, directed by M° Rodolfo Bonucci in Boario Terme, Arenzano, Edolo (BS).
In 2002 wins the 56° Concorso Internazionale Comunità Europea del Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto “A. Belli”, chief of the Jury M° Ruggero Raimondi, and sings at Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto “A. Belli” “La Prova di un Opera Seria” by F. Gnecco (M° Campanone role), Paolo Baiocco director, M° Andrea Certa conductor. He sings this opera also at the Italian Institute of Culture of Budapest, at the Auditorium del Carmine (Terni), and at Teatro Caio Melisso of Spoleto.
He sings at Teatro Caio Melisso Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” (Dottor Malatesta role) with Gianni Marras director and M° Laurent Campellone, conductor. At Teatro Nuovo of Spoleto sings Lescaut in “Manon Lescaut” by G. Puccini, with Gianni Marras director and M° Cristofer Franklin conductor.
He sings in “Don Giovanni” by W.A. Mozart (Masetto role) at the Opera Festival “Malta’s National Theatre Manoel” in Valletta (Malta 2003), with M° Michael Laus conductor, scenes and direction by Mauro Avogadro, costumes by Francesca Pipi, “I Solisti di Operalaboratorio” and “Fondazione Teatro Massimo di Palermo” promotors. He wins in 2003 the 24th edition of Concorso Internazionale “Mattia Battistini” of Rieti at Teatro Flavio Vespasiano with Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” (Dottor Malatesta role). Also in 2003 he wins the International Competition of Teatro Alla Scala di Milano chief of Jury M° Riccardo Muti, to be enroled as one of the “Cadetti Della Scala”.
In April 2004 Vincenzo Taormina sings at Gran Teatro La Fenice of Venezia “Les Pechéurs de Perles” by G.Bizet (Zurga role) conducted by M° Marcello Viotti with scenes costumes and direction by Pierluigi Pizzi. For the Teatro Alla Scala, Milano, sings the Principe Yamadori role in the G. Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” conductor M° Bruno Bartoletti, direction Keita Asari, at Teatro degli Arcimboldi. In August sings in “Polyeucte” by C. Gounod, Nearque role, under the conduction of M° Manlio Benzi and the direction of Jean Louis Pichon for Festival Della Valle D’Itria at the Courtyard of the Ducal Palace of Martina Franca.
In October sings in the opera “La Parisina” by G. Donizetti, as Azzo Duca di Ferrara, with M° Tiziano Severini conductor and direction, scenes and costumes by Massimo Gasparon at Teatro Gaetano Donizetti of Bergamo in co-production with Fondazione Teatro alla Scala.
In December sings in the opera “Ugo Conte di Parigi” by G. Donizetti, as Folco, conducted by M° Fabrizio Maria Carminati with the direction of Guido De Monticelli, exhibition of Teatro alla Scala.
In February 2005 sings in a Concert for the celebration of the Statute at Teatro Alla Scala with the Orchestra of Pomeriggi Musicali conducted by M° Tiziano Severini (music of V. Bellini, G. Donizetti, G. Verdi). In June-July sings at Teatro Alla Scala, Milano, as Marcello in “La Bohème” by G. Puccini with M° Rafael Frùhbeck De Burgos conductor, M° Niksa Bareza director, and scenes by Franco Zeffirelli. In September-October sings at Teatro Alla Scala, Milano, in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” by G. Rossini as Figaro with M° Enrique Mazzola conductor in the exhibition (direction, scenes and costumes) of Jean-Pierre Ponnelle. In November sings at Gran Teatro La Fenice,Venezia, in “La Juive” by F. Halévy, as Ruggiero, with M° Frédéric Chaslin conductor, Gunter Kramer director, scenes by Gottfried Pilz.
In January 2006 sings again Figaro in G. Rossini’s “Barbiere di Siviglia” at Teatro Filarmonico, Verona, with M° Antonello Allemandi conductor, Luca Ronconi director, scenes by Gae Aulenti. For the Teatro Filarmonico of Verona sings in G. Donizetti’s Messa da Requiem for soloists chorus and orchestra conducted by M° Lu Jia. In May sings at Teatro Alla Scala, Milano, in “Manon” by J. Massenet as Lescaut, with M° Ion Marin conductor, Nicolas Joel director, scenes by Ezio Frigerio, costumes by Franca Squarciapino. In June sings Figaro in G. Rossini’s “Barbiere di Siviglia” at TAM, Milano, in the exhibition (direction, scenes and costumes) of Jean-Pierre Ponnelle under the conduction of M°Walter Attanasi. In July sings as Cleone in G. Paisiello’s “I Giuochi D' Agrigento” for “Festival della Valle D'Itria” at the Courtyard of the Ducal Palace of Martina Franca.
In March 2007 sings at Teatro alla Scala, Milano, in “La Fille du Regiment” by G. Donizetti as Sulpice with scenes and costumes by Franco Zeffirelli, Filippo Crivelli director, M° Y. Abel and R. Rizzi Brignone conductors. In May sings as Lescaut in “Manon” by J. Massenet at Teatro Massimo di Palermo, with M° Michel Plasson conductor, Alberto Fassini director, scenes and costumes by Pierluigi Samaritani.
In June-July 2007 sings Bohème by G. Puccini sings as Schaunard, under the conduction of M° Lu Jia, directions and scenes by Arnaud Bernard, scene e costumes by William Orlandi for the Arena di Verona Fondation, on the occasion of the “85° Festival Areniano 2007”. Vincenzo Taormina makes his debut in Mamma Agata in Le Convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali by G. Donizetti at Teatro alla Scala, Milano under conduction of M° M. Guidarini and scenes by A. Albanese
In January 2010 sings as Haly in L’Italiana in Algeri by G. Rossini, at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, under conduction Enrique Mazzola. In March sings as Marcello in La Bohème by G. Puccini at Teatro Massimo di Palermo, under conduction Daniele Callegari. He was invited to perform at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, on the occasion of the 65th of the May 9 parade in Red Square, directed by Maestro Paolo Vaglieri. In August / September he makes his debut with the Covent Garden in London on tour in Japan, in the role of Germont in La Traviata, conducted by Maestro Antonio Pappano. In October/November he makes his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Lucia di Lammermoor in the role of Henry conducted by Maestro Guillermo Garcia Calvo, and the direction and costumes PHILIP Sanjust.
He also attends several vocal concerts in various cities as Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Bologna, Milano, Piacenza, Parma, Spoleto, Perugia, Terni, Narni, Arenzano, Boario Terme, Capri, Erlangen, Budapest, Seghed, Tczew, Algeri, Pechino, Copenaghen.
