Simona Noja was born in Romania and studied dance at the University of Arts of Cluj-Napoca. Between 1986 and 1991 she was a soloist dancer at the Cluj-Napoca Opera and from 1991 and 1995 she held the same position at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. Finally, in 1995, she joined the Vienna Opera where she became principal dancer.
Her repertoire from Vienna includes numerous performances among which Swan Lake by Nureyev as Odette-Odile, in Sleeping Beauty by Peter Wright as Aurora, in A Midsummer Night's Dream by John Neumeier as Hippolyta/Titania, in Wolfgang Amade by Renato Zanella as Constanze Mozart, in Bayadère by Vladimir Malakov and Patrice Bart as Gamzatti.
She has also danced in the title role of Raymonda by Nureyev, Roméo et Juliette by John Cranko, Manon by Mac Millan and Mata-Hari by Zanella. In her vast repertoire we can also note performances in Apollo, Theme and Variations, Violin Concerto and Tchaikovsky's pas de deux by George Balanchine, Song of the Earth by Mac Millan, Black Cake by Hans van Mannen, Don Quixote by Balkan, Carmen by Roland Petit, Duo Concertante, Movements, Love Beyond, Laus Deo by Zanella and In the middle somewhat elevated by William Forsythe.
From 1995 to 1997 Simona Noja was the soloist dancer of the Deutsche Oper in Berlin where she danced in, among other things, Intermittences du Coeur by Roland Petit and in Snow Queen by Ray Barra. During her career she was a guest dancer at the Frankfurter Ballet, The Royal Opera Ballet in Sweden, the Baerissches Ballett, the State Opera Ballet in Romania, the Hannover Ballet, the Permanent Ballet company of the Teatro Colón and she also danced in gala evenings in Helsinki, Moscow, Stockholm, Seoul and Miami. Recently she performed in Città di Castello in a choreography by Zanella: Strauss incontra Verdi.
In 2000 she performed in the role of Esmeralda in the première of Notre Dame de Paris by Roland Petit at the Opéra di Paris, at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. In 2001 she won the "Danza & Danza" prize as the best dancer.
