Amaya Ugarteche 
Amaya Ugarteche was born in Bilbao, Spain and completed her studies at the Dance Studio of the city, with Rafael Martì and Angeles Sautiño.

In 1987 she joined the Joven Ballet Bilbao, which, in 1989, became Ballet de Euskadi (Spain), where she interpreted The Nutcracker in the principal role, Paquita, Don Quixote and Giselle.

In 1993 she worked for the Compagnia di Danza Teatro in Turin directed by Loredana Furno; her partner was Denis Ganio in Rodolfo Valentino (Choreography by G. Bobot); Toni Candeloro in Amore e Psiche (choreography by L. Veggetti), il Talismano (pas de deux), Le Silfidi and La Spectre de la Rose; by Jesus Pastor and Roberto Bolle in Giselle. She interpreted the principal role also in the following productions: Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Tango (Choreography by R. Fascilla), There is a time (choreography by J. Limòn), Eco e Narciso and L'envol d'Icare (Choreography by L. Veggetti), Romeo and Juliet (choreography by L. Petrillo), Suite in Blanc (choreography by S. Lifar), participating also in all of the tours of the company, Mexico, China, Taiwan, Cuba, Turkey, Greece and Egypt.

In 1996 she won first prize (category Seniores) in the città di Rieti International Competition in the classic section, in the same year she was the finalist in the Competition of Paris.

In 1998 she was invited by the Festival Madrid en Danza, with choreography by Luca Veggetti.

In 1998/1999 she collaborated with the Balletto del Sud directed by Fredy Franzutti, in her dance routines among which, Romeo and Juliet in the principal role, Tango, Ansiose attese, Swan Lake, - also in 1999 she joined the ballet company of Milan directed by Denis Ganio, as protagonist of his choreographies Tano, Una rosa per Jorge Donn, Tango and Bolero in important international theatres such as the Teatro Bolshoi in Moscow.

Since 2000 Amaya Ugarteche has been working with the Corps de Ballet of the Arena di Verona, directed by Maria Grazia Garofoli in her dance routines: Coppelia interpreting the role of Serenissima, Giselle in the role of Giselle alongside Igor Yebra, Massimo Murru, Gregor Hatala, Roberto Bolle, Giovanni Patti and Svebor Secak, Don Quixote in the role of Kitri with Igor Yebra, Sleeping Beauty in the role of the Princess Aurora, in the pas de deux in Blu Bird; She has also interpreted the principal roles of the ballets The two gentlemen of Verona as Silvia, with Giuseppe Picone, Igor Yebra and Massimo Murru (choreography by S. Giannetti), Laudes Evangelii as the Virgin Mary (choreography by Léonid Massine), Zorba the Greek as Marina, alongside Slavomir Vozniak and Gregor Hatala (choreography by Lorca Massine), Le Spectre de la Rosa alongside Vladimir Malakhov. She also danced in Aida (directed by Franco Zeffirelli) in the role of Akhmen.

Since the summer of 2003, Amaya Ugarteche has been the prima ballerina with the Corps de Ballet of the Arena di Verona Foundation.
