Luis Lima 
Luis Lima was born in Córdoba (Argentina) and studied singing at the Istituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, perfecting his voice with Alfredo Bonta and Carlos Guichandut. Following this period, he moved to Europe, where he studied with the tenor Miguel Barrosa and the soprano Gina Cigna. He won the Toulouse, Viñas and Giacomo Lauri Volpi prizes.

Lima made his debut at the Teatro De Saõ Carlos in Lisbon in Cavalleria Rusticana and subsequently he sang in different famous international theatres such as: Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, The Metropolitan in New York, the Staatsoper in Vienna and at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. He also sang in Munich, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, Berlin, Tokyo.

At the Staatsoper in Vienna he performed in Un Ballo in Maschera, Simon Boccanegra and Don Carlos conducted by Maestro Claudio Abbado. Subsequently, he gained enormous success singing in operas like: Werther, La Bohème, Cavalleria Rusticana, Carmen, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Fedora, Tosca and Lucia di Lammermoor.

At the Metropolitan in New York he sang in Carmen and in Il Tabarro conducted by Maestro James Levine and subsequently Don Carlos, La Bohème, Adriana Lecouvreur alongside Mirella Freni. At Covent Garden in London he performed in L'Elisir d'amore, Tosca, La Bohème, Don Carlos and Carmen conducted by Maestro Zubin Metha (videos of the last two operas were recorded).

Lima sang in Madama Butterfly in Boston which was conducted by Maestro Ozawa and in Verdi's Requiem, which he had already performed before, conducted by Maestro Herbert Von Karajan, with whom he collaborated for the new production of the opera Tosca in Salzburg. In Philadelphia Mr. Lima performed in Macbeth which was conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti.

In Hamburg he played a role in Cavalleria Rusticana, Tosca and Carmen. He also performed in the latter opera in Madrid alongside Teresa Berganza.

Recently Lima sang in Carmen and Fedora alongside Agnes Baltsa in Zurich; he performed in Carmen, and Cavalleria Rusticana at the Staatsoper in Vienna, in La Bohème at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and at the Teatro Real in Madrid, he played a role in Don Carlos.

In 2002 Lima has a full programme with Tosca at the Opera House in Toulouse, Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Les Contes D'Hoffmann at the Opera House in Zurich, as well as at the Staatsoper in Vienna, Carmen in the Arena di Verona, and La Fanciulla Del West at the Opera House in Los Angeles. in 2003 a series of performances have been programmed such as Don Carlos, Carmen and Les Contes D'Hoffmann at the Staatsoper in Vienna, Cavalleria Rusticana at the Opera Festival of Macerata and Tosca at the Opera House in Houston.

He recorded the operas: Le Roi de Lahore, Gemma di Vergy with Montserrat Caballè, Così Fan Tutte, Carmen and Don Carlo.

He was recently awarded the Aureliano Pertile prize and the Platinum Konex prize for the best lyrical singer of the last decade.
