Alessandra Canettieri started to take voice lessons at the same time as studying violin. After a number of appearances in the cinema she decided to dedicate her time completely to singing.
In 1995 she made her debut in the role of Maddalena in Rigoletto in the Luglio Musicale Trapanese.
In 1997 she sang in the role of Fenena in Nabucco in various Italian Theatres, and made her debut in the role of Azucena in Il Trovatore in Reggio Calabria.
In 1998 she interpreted the role of Suzuki at the Freiburg Theatre, and in Malta in 1999 she sang Amneris in Aida. In 2000 she interpreted Lola at the Teatro Bellini in Catania, and with the Arena di Verona she sang in Sofia and Strasbourg. In 2001 she sang in the role of the High Priestess in Aida at the Arena di Verona.
Then she participated in Le Coefore directed by Giorgio Pressburger, and in Prometeo directed by Antonio Calenda in the Teatro Greco in Siracusa in 1994 and 1996.
