ANDREA BOCELLI, JOSÉ CARRERAS and PLÁCIDO DOMINGO come together exceptionally to celebrate “100 YEARS OF OPERA” in ARENA DI VERONA.

A unique and unrepeatable experience, it will be an evening entirely dedicated to melodrama and to those extraordinary operatic arias and romances which have shaped the myth of opera through history.
The most renowned and striking moments of these operas will be performed for this centennial edition of the Festival: AIDA, NABUCCO, LA TRAVIATA, IL TROVATORE, MESSA DA REQUIEM, RIGOLETTO and ROMÉO ET JULIETTE.
The television preview of the Arena Opera Festival, will be hosted by ANTONELLA CLERICI and will be broadcast live on the RAIUNO channel which is the main national television channel of RAI RADIOTELEVISIONE ITALIANA.
It will be a unique and impressive setting, the protagonists being the Choir and Orchestra who will perform under the masterful direction of Conductors Julian Kovatchev, Marcello Rota and Plácido Domingo, along with all the performers – a company of over 500 artists – in their splendid costumes; a “live” performance, a spectacle within the spectacle; the Arena will be in its full operatic configuration, with the stone terraces prominently in sight and the settings created by majestic lighting effects as well as personalized scenography for each opera.

The show will be dedicated to the memory of LUCIANO PAVAROTTI, so to mark the occasion there will be the Veronese début of the international exhibition “AMO  PAVAROTTI” (I love Pavarotti); the special guest of the evening will be NICOLETTA MANTOVANI PAVAROTTI.

In order to celebrate the first century of the Arena di Verona Opera Festival, and to inaugurate the next 100 years of great opera, the Centennial Festival 2013 will see the very well-known Plácido Domingo as Honorary Artistic Director; he will also be conductor and singer on the greatest stage in the world

On 15th August, a Gala will be dedicated to Wagner and to Verdi, starring the young and famous Daniel Harding, who will conduct Plácido Domingo together with the greatest singers of Wagner's and Verdi's repertoire, such as Evelyn Herlitzius, Violeta Urmana, Susanna Branchini, Francesco Meli, Vitalij Kowaljow.

The 20th August Gala, in which  Daniel Oren will conduct the winners of the latest editions of the Operalia competition, an event promoted by Placido Domingo, completes the programme.

On 4th July and 18th August Placido Domingo will sing in the title character in Verdi's "Nabucco" at the Arena di Verona for the Centennial Festival 2013.
