Starting from November 27th 2009 until March 7th 2010 at Palazzo della Gran Guardia will be held the exhibition
"Corot e l’Arte Moderna. Souvenirs et Impressions", one of the exhibition projects result of the collaboration between the Musée du Louvre and Comune di Verona within a long-term agreement with the goal to increase the visits of cultural sites.
A great opportunity to see about 100 paintings normally kept in one of the most famous museum in the world, an itinerary which goes all the way of more than 500 years of history of art from Poussin to Picasso.
The Exhibition dedicated to Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot (1798-1875) and to the Modern Art is totally unprecedented specially made for Verona and supervised by Vincent Pomarède (Chief Curator of the department of Painting of the Louvre Museum), with the organization of the Museo Civico of Castelvecchio in Verona.
It is really a class on the way how the art of Corot has influenced not only the first generation of impressionists but also the fauves the cubists and the abstractionists.
The path underlines the influence of the artist known as ”the last of the classics and the first of the moderns” through the comparison of his paintings and the one of Denis and Sisley, Monet, Renoir and Cézanne, Mondrian, Braque and Picasso.
