In order to celebrate the first century of the Arena di Verona Opera Festival, and to inaugurate the next 100 years of great opera, the Centennial Festival 2013 will see the very well-known Plácido Domingo as Honorary Artistic Director; he will also be conductor and singer on the greatest stage in the world

On 15th August, a Gala will be dedicated to Wagner and to Verdi, starring the young and famous Daniel Harding, who will conduct Plácido Domingo together with the greatest singers of Wagner's and Verdi's repertoire, such as Evelyn Herlitzius, Violeta Urmana, Susanna Branchini, Francesco Meli, Vitalij Kowaljow.

The 20th August Gala, in which  Daniel Oren will conduct the winners of the latest editions of the Operalia competition, an event promoted by Placido Domingo, completes the programme.

On 4th July and 18th August Placido Domingo will sing in the title character in Verdi's "Nabucco" at the Arena di Verona for the Centennial Festival 2013.

AMO, the Arena Foundation Museum, dedicated to the creativity and to the excellence of the Italian Opera, reaffirms its goal to reveal to the audience “the big creative machine” that lies behind every opera, providing the public with a unique experience. On the next 23rd of April, at Palazzo Forti in Verona, AMO inaugurates three new exhibitions. On an area of 5000 square meters- that includes the permanent exhibition DALL’IDEA ALLA SCENA (FROM THE IDEA TO THE SCENE) opened in 2012- the new exhibitions complete the project dedicated to the world of Opera, turning the ArenaMuseOpera into a place where multiple artistic expressions, based on creativity and on different talents, can meet.
