Director and Scenographer
Graziano Gregori was born in Castorano (Ascoli Piceno) in 1954. He received his degree in architecture and since 1983 he has been working as a scenographer and costume designer in the "Teatro del Carretto", which he considers to be a fundamental instrument for his artistic and expressive talents. In this theatre he has staged many productions which include Snow White by the Grimm Brothers, Romeo and Juliet and Midsummer night's dream by Shakespeare, La Dame aux camélias by Dumas. Others have been The Iliad by Homer, Metamorphosis by Kafka, The Trojans by Euripides and Beauty and the beast. All of these productions were directed by Grazia Cipriani.
As well as this, Graziano Gregori has collaborated with many other theatres and has worked on the staging of important productions like Saint Joan of the stockyards by Brecht (directed by G. Sepe with C. Gravina), L'Interrogatorio della contessa Maria by Palazzeschi (directed by E. Marcucci with V. Moriconi), Zeno e la cura del fumo taken from the book by Svevo (designed and directed by M. Sciaccaluga with G. Bosetti), Le Ultime lune by Bordon (directed by G. Bosetti with Marcello Mastroianni) and L'Uomo la bestia e la virtù by Pirandello (directed by G. Emiliani). In addition, he has worked in La Guerra by Goldoni (directed by L. Squarzina), Ghosts by Ibsen, Heracles by Euripides, Twelfth night by Shakespeare (directed by E. Marcucci), The Caretaker by Pinter (directed by G. Emiliani) and Arlecchino servitore di due padroni by Goldoni (directed by G. Emiliani).
Gregori's experience with opera includes La Bohème and Manon Lescaut by Puccini (directed by L. Capolicchio), Il Tabarro by Puccini and Cavalleria rusticana by Mascagni (directed by F. Crivelli), L'Incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi (directed by M. Hampe) and Les Pêcheurs de perles by Bizet. Other operatic work includes Nabucco by Verdi (directed by R. Giacchieri), Suor Angelica by Puccini (directed by Piera Degli Esposti), Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti, Suor Angelica and Cavalleria rusticana by Mascagni (directed by L. De Fusco), Eugenij Onegin by Tchaikovsky (directed by Jury Alexandrov), and Pollicino by G.W. Henze (directed by D. Abbado).
