Irene Favro holds a Diploma and a Postgraduate diploma in singing with Honours from the G. Verdi Conservatory of Turin. Meanwhile she also holds a Laurea in Clinical Psychology at the University of Turin for which she received full marks. Irene then went on to become a young artist at the ‘Scuola dell’Opera Italiana’ in Bologna, and was selected at the Maggio Fiorentino Academy. In 2008 she won the As.Li.Co. competition and therefore made her debut in W.A. Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte at the following theatres: Arcimboldi in Milan, Bibiena in Montova, Grande in Brescia, Sociale in Como, Alighieri in Ravenna, Verdi in Trieste, and at the Ponchielli in Cremona.
She was chosen by the Teatro del Maggio Musicale for a prodcution of Il Campanello by Donizetti in 2009, for Il Barbiere di Siviglia in 2010, for Serva Padrona by Pergolesi in 2011, for Il cappello di paglia di Firenze by N. Rota in 2012, and for Gianni Schicchi by Puccini, also in 2012.
In 2010 Irene made her debut in Carmen at the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, and the following year she debuted in L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti at Carlo Felice in Genua. She also made a recital at the Verdi Theatre in Florence, the Piccolo Regio and the Carignano in Turin, and at the Opera Theatre in Saint Petersburg.
At the Opera Theatre of Quingdao (China) she played Musetta in Boheme in 2011, and Gilda in Rigoletto in 2012. Further debuts included Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart, Michaela in Carmen, Norina in Don Pasquale by Donizetti, Rita in Rita also by Donizetti, Juliette in Romeo et Juliette by Gounod, and Gretel in Hansel and Gretel by Hunperdinck.
She was a protagonist in the 29th and 31st edition of the ‘Concerto di Ferragosto’ aired live on Rai national television.
Irene will debut for the first time at the Filarmonico Theatre in Verona in the role of Second Dame in Didone ed Enea by Purcell in February of 2013.
