Ernesto Morillo 
BASS 

Ernesto Morillo was born in Caracas (Venezuela). He studied at the “Escuela Latinoamericana de Canto Carmen Teresa Hurtado”. Afterwords he moved to Italy where he continued his vocal and artistic training with Cecilia Nunez Albanese, Bianca Berini e Bonaldo Giaiotti.
In 2001 he sang the King in Aida produced by the Arturo Toscanini Foundation in Busseto and directed by Franco Zeffirelli.

In 2003/2004 he became a member of the Atelier Lyrique des Jeunes Voix du Rhin - Opera Nationale du Rhin, Strasbourg. The year 2005 saw his debut in major roles - Verdi’s Attila at the Opernwerkstatt in Vienna and in 2007 Ernesto sang Colline with Gustavo Dudamel conducting in Caracas.
Further operatic roles include Mephistopheles, (Faust), Nilakantha (Lakme) in Tokyo, Ferrando (Il Trovatore) Italy, Banquo (Macbeth), with Opera North, Leeds, Oroveso (Norma) with Grange Park Opera in Hampshire, UK .
In 2010 Ernesto Morillo received rave reviews for his North American debut as Sparafucile with L’Opera de Montreal. Further highlights in 2011 include Grand Inquisitor (Don Carlo) with Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Colline with Teatro Massimo in Palermo, and Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra) with Teatro Colon.

In the 2013 he will be making another big debut, this time playing the Wagnerian Role of Hermann Landgraf von Thuringen in Tannhauser conducting Gustavo Dudamel at the Opera of Colombia in Bogotà.

In the 2013 he will also be playing Attila for the Filarmonic theatre of Verona.
