Seung Pil Choi 
BASS 

Korean born Seung Pil Choi graduated in sacred music at the Chong Shin University and in singing at the University of Arts in Korea, after that he moved to Germany where he specialized in chamber music and German repertoire. In 2006 he arrived in Italy where he graduated in singing at the conservatoire in Turin, in chamber music at the National Academy in Milan and he specialized at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena (with Renato Bruson), at the Accademia Pucciniana in Torre del Lago and at the Opera Studio at the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi and in Treviso.

Seung Pil Choi is finalist of important International Lyric Contests such as Maria Caniglia in Sulmona, Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto, Riccardo Zandonai in Riva del Garda, Giacomo Puccini in Torre del Lago,  and he won Gianni Poggi Contest in Piacenza and Pietro Cappuccilli Contest in Alessandria.

Among his past engagements it is worth mentioning: Rigoletto (Monterone) in Trapani, Don Giovanni (title role)  in Milan; Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Don Basilio), Macbeth (Banco), Rigoletto (Sparafucile) and Lucia di Lammermoor (Raimondo) in Seoul; Il Trovatore (Ferrando), Nabucco (Zaccaria) in Milan, Treviso, Jesi and Seoul; Così fan tutte (Don Alfonso) in Sulmona; Madama Butterfly (Zio Bonzo), Gianni Schicchi (Simone) and La Bohème (Colline) at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago; Madama Butterfly (Zio Bonzo) at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa and in Lucca; Colline in La Bohème in Castell’Arquato with Riccardo Panerai for the Illica Lyric Prize (2011). Active also on the concert side he sang Schubert’s Winterreise in Milan (Teatro dal Verme), Mozart’s Requiem in Monte Carlo and Gent and he performed in concerts in Jesi, Treviso, Alessandria, Lucca and Busseto.

More recently Mr. Choi starred in Turandot at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Nabucco in Cagliari,  Aida, Nabucco and Macbeth at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Otello in Valencia,  Rigoletto and Tosca in Torre del Lago, Trovatore in Bergamo and then on tour in Basel, Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro Verdi in Parma, Rigoletto and Otello in Genoa, Madama Butterfly in Turin, Otello in Naples.

Future plans include Simon Boccanegra in Toulon.
