Mezzo-soprano Asude Karayavuz was born in 1982 in Istanbul. She studied the flute and piano before receiving her singing training from Payam Koryak at the Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul.
In 2004 she made her debut at the Istanbul State Theatre as Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro. Winning second prize at the Siemens Opera Competition made it possible for her in 2005 to attend master classes given by Elio Battaglia, Edith Mathis and Kurt Widmer at the International Summer Academy Mozarteum in Salzburg.
In 2006 she was a finalist at the Leyla Gencer Voice Competition in Istanbul. At the Istanbul State Opera she sang Anna Reich in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor.
From 2007 until 2009 Asude Karayavuz was a member of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, where she was taught by Leyla Gencer, Mirella Freni, Luciana Serra, Luigi Alva, Renato Bruson, Vincenzo Scalera, Antonio Albanese and Marco Gandini.
In October 2008 she sang Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro conducted by Giovanni Antonini at La Scala Milan. This was followed by performances in Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessores with the orchestra and chorus of La Scala conducted by Myung-Whun Chung, in Salvatore Sciarrino’s Le voci sottovetro and as Clorinda in Monteverdi’s Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda conducted by Giorgio Bernasconi at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona.
In October 2009 she appeared at La Scala as Pipetto in Donizetti’s Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali conducted by Marco Guidarini. In July 2010 she made her debut at the Arena di Verona as Mercédès (Carmen) conducted by Julian Kovatchev. In September 2010 she also made her debut at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia as Isabella in L’italiana in Algeri conducted by Alberto Zedda. During the 2010–11 season she also sang Flora (La traviata) and Pisana in Verdi’s I due Foscari conducted by Renato Palumbo at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste.
In June 2011 she sang as La Contessa in the I due Figaro by Saverio Mercadante Salzburg Festival (Pfingsten) and Ravenna Festival production , conducted by Riccardo Muti
In July 2011 she also sang as Publia in Aureliano in Palmira by G. Rossini, during the Valle D'Itria Festival in Martina Franca
