Kate Aldrich, mezzo-soprano, has performed in leading theater throughout the world including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Bavarian Staatsoper Munich, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Gran Teatre de Liceu, Teatro Colon de Buenos Aires, the Hamburg State Opera, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Regio di Torino, l'Arena di Verona, Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Theatre du Capitole Toulouse, l’Opera de Marseille, l'Opera de Montpellier, l'Opera de Montreal, the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, and many more.
Hailed by the San Francisco Sentinel as "the Carmen of this Generation", Ms. Aldrich has performed the title role of Bizet's opera to much critical acclaim in theatres from the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, New York City Opera, During the 2010-2011 season and beyond she will reprise the role at the Met, in Chicago, San Francisco, Munich, Berlin, l'Arena di Verona and Zurich.
This summer Ms. Aldrich made her La Scala di Milano debut as Rosina in il Barbiere di Siviglia, performed the title role of la Cenerentola at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, and sang Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo. In the fall of 2010 Ms. Aldrich will make her debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in the title role of Carmen, and will then return to the Deutsche Oper Berlin where she received much critical acclaim for her interpretation of the role of Adriano in a new production of Rienzi, to sing the role of Didon in the new production of Les Troyens. She then returns to the Metropolitan Opera to reprise the role of Carmen, will make her return to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich once again for Carmen, as well as Oktavian in Der Rosenkavalier, and Orsini in Lucrezia Borgia
