Jean-François Borras started singing at the age of eight as a member of the “Petits Chanteurs de Monaco”. During his studies at the Music Academy of Monaco from 2001 to 2004 he made his debuts as Alfredo “La Traviata”, Nemorino “L´Elisir d´Amore”, Roméo “Roméo et Juliette”, "Werther", Wilhelm “Mignon”, Faust and Frick “La Vie Parisienne” in productions produced by Gabriel Bacquier.
In 2003 he made his highly acclaimed debut as Edgardo in “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the Théâtre de Montauban. In June 2004 he received his superior diploma in singing. He continues to work with Michèle Command and Gabriel Bacquier.
In 2005 he made his debut as Don Ottavio in “Don Giovanni” with the Chamber Opera of France, and several important debuts immediately followed in 2006: Sergueï in “Un coin de paradis à Moscou” at the Toulon Opera, Pedrillo in “Entführung” in Clermont-Ferrand, Pang in “Turandot” at the Marseille Opéra as well as Flavio “Norma” at the Nice Opera. In 2007 he sang for the first time at the Opéra National de Bordeaux as Borsa in “Rigoletto” and at the Chorégies d´Orange Festival in “Il Trovatore“ alongside Roberto Alagna.
He made his debut as the Duke in “Rigoletto” in Perpignan and Carcassonne, later replied in a new production in Athens : he then sang a new production of “Lucia di Lammermoor” in Essen, “La Bohéme” in Aachen, Graz, Bari and Ascoli, Camille de Rossillon in “The merry widow”, Gerald in “Lakhme” in Rouen, Roméo in “Roméo et Juliette” in Trieste and Verona. He then sang “Manon Lescaut” and “Rigoletto” in Roma, he will have his Italian debut as Alfredo in “La Traviata” with Aslico in the most important Theatres of Northern Italy, “Rigoletto” in St. Etienne, a new production of “Faust” in in Graz.
Among his next engagements, “Lucia di Lammermoor” in Trieste, “Manon Lescaut” at the Paris Opera, “Rigoletto” in Tel Aviv.
