Gianluca Terranova is one of the most sought-after lyric tenor because of his Italian timbre, his ease in high register and a great stage presence.
Born in Rome, and graduated with degree in piano, in 2008 Terranova was acclaimed for his interpretation of Rigoletto at the Arena di Verona, conducted by Renato Palumbo, becoming soon one of the most interesting performers of the Duke of Mantua. For this role he was invited at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and made his debut at La Scala and in Los Angeles, conducted by James Conlon.
Terranova is one of the leading tenor for the Italian repertoire in operas such as La Bohème, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Traviata, and also belcantistic titles like Figlia del reggimento or Roberto Devereux, debuted at the Rome Opera in 2010.
In 2011, he performed La Traviata in Venice, Rigoletto in Tenerife and made his debut as Arturo in I puritani in the Lombardy Lyric Circuit and as Faust in La Damnation de Faust, in Palermo. In 2012 he took part in Lucia di Lammermoor in Naples, in La Bohème in Venice and he was Alfredo in La Traviata for the first edition of "Opera on Sydney Harbour" for which he was nominated for the 'Helpmann Awards'. Also in 2012, he took part in Rigoletto in Venice and La Traviata in Hong Kong. In 2013 he performs La Bohème in Sydney and Amsterdam, Rigoletto in Palermo, Warsaw and at the Arena di Verona.
In Fall 2013 he will be Gabriele in Simon Boccanegra in Turin and Tebaldo in I Capuleti e Montecchi at Verona Philharmonic. In 2014 he will be Alfredo in La Traviata in Leipzig and he will play once again the role of the Duke of Mantua in Sydney, in 2014, and Liège, in 2015. In 2012 he performed as Enrico Caruso in a RAI Fiction production entitled "Caruso - The voice of love."
