
Mariella Devia was born in Chiusavecchia (Imperia, Italy) and received her diploma in singing from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Since then she has been constantly performing in theatres such as la Scala in Milan, La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Comunale in Florence, Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, the Ravenna Festival, Covent Garden in London, the Metropolitan and Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Opéra National and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris.
Among the numerous operas in which she has performed, we recall: Tancredi, I Puritani, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Il Ratto dal serraglio, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Lodoiska, Il Flauto magico, Don Giovanni, La Sonnambula, Idomeneo, Otello and Zelmira. Her performances in Benvenuto Cellini, Le Nozze di Figaro, Parisina d'este, Lakmè, Il Matrimonio segreto, Falstaff, Le Comte Ory and Roméo et Juliette are also noteworthy.
Recently she made her debut in Lucrezia Borgia at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and at the Teatro alla Scala, in La Donna del lago at the Rossini Opera Festival and in Marino Faliero at the Teatro Fenice in Venice and at the Teatro Regio in Parma, where she also returned in La Traviata.
