Loredana Bigi was born in Reggio Emilia and received her diploma in singing from the "Peri" Musical Institute under the guidance of Mauro Trombetta. She made her debut at the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia in 1994 as the protagonist of Scoiattolo in gamba by Nino Rota.
She performs in Italy and abroad (mostly in Germany, Holland and Ireland), interpreting chamber and liederistic music. She has also sung in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Bononcini by Rossini, both Mozart's and Fauré's Requiems, Vivaldi's Juditha triumphans, la Via Crucis by Liszt, Le sette parole di Nostro Signore by Mercadente, Ester by Stradella, la Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini and the Liebeslieder by Brahms.
The soprano's opera repertoire includes
Tosca,
L'Amico Fritz and
Rigoletto in the traditional Theatres in Emilia in Italy. In 1997 she interpreted Anna in
Nabucco, she performed at the Teatro Bellini in Catania in
Madame Sans-Gêne by Umberto Giordano alongside Mirella Freni and she interpreted lo Spirito di Belladonna in
Rinaldo & Co by Azio Corghi.
In 2000 and 2001 she sang in the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona in
Suor Angelica and
L'Amico Fritz with Cecilia Gasdia and Andrea Bocelli.
In the summer of 2001 Loredana Bigi sang in the Arena di Verona in
Rigoletto beside Leo Nucci conducted by Marcello Viotti and in
La Traviata conducted by Marc Soustrot. In the same year she won the special prize at the "Spiros Argiris" International Competition.
She has also collaborated with the Ensemble Arte e Musica, where she interpreted music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries: Monteverdi, Leo, Scarlatti, Haendel.
