
Maya Dashuk was born in Saint Petersburg and won first prize in the "Montserrat Caballé" International Song Contest in Andorra in 1999. Having already won important prizes in other International Competitions such as the "Diaghilev" Competition in 1996 and the "Glinka" Competition in 1999, she subsequently began her opera and concert career.
She made her debut at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome in the role of Musetta in
La Bohème and subsequently went to Wuppertal in Germany for a Gala Concert presented by Montserrat Caballé and to Figueras for a Concert for the occasion of the XIII Festival of Perelada.
In 2000 she returned to the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome to sing in
La Bohème and to the Teatro Marinskij in Saint Petersburg to interpret the role of Tatiana in
Evgenij Onegin. She performed numerous recitals in France, in Cannes, Reims, Meudon and Paris and in Florida, and subsequently performed in Saint Petersburg in the role of Violetta in
La Traviata.
In 2001 she participated in the Verdi Festival in Parma in
La Traviata and won third prize in the "Operalia - Placido Domingo" International Competition in Washington.

Recently she performed in
La Traviata and in
Carodejka by Tchaikovsky at the Teatro Nacional São Carlos in Lisbon, in
La Bohème in the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona in April 2003, at the Festival Pucciniano in Torre del Lago in Tuscany and in
Carmen at the 2003 Arena di Verona summer opera festival.
