
Patrizia Cigna was born in Volterra, Italy. She was a student of Jolanda Meneguzzer and received her diploma in singing from the State Music Conservatory "Luigi Cherubini" in Florence with top marks, cum laude and a special mention under the guidance of Maria Grazia Germani.
Ms. Cigna has won many important International Competions, among which: "Rocca delle Macìe" (Siena, 1994); "Tito Schipa" (Lecce, 1994), "William Walton" (Ischia, 1995). She made her debut in 1993 at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa in the role of Juliette Brook in
The Little sweep by B. Britten. Since then she has interpreted numerous operas from the traditional repertoire, among which: Despina in
Così fan tutte (Wexford Opera Festival, Ireland, 1995); Norina in
Don Pasquale (Wexford Opera Festival, 1996); Rosina in
Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Empoli, 1998); Barbarina in
Le Nozze di Figaro (Teatro Regio in Turin, 1997); Serafina in
Il Campanello (Teatro Comunale in Bologna, 1998); Servilia in
La Clemenza di Tito (Ferrara musica, 1998); Adiana in
L'Elisir d'amore (Sao Paulo, 1998 Brazil);
Lucia di Lammermoor (Teatro Romea Murcia 1998, Spain); Musetta in
La Bohème (Festival Pucciniano in Torre del Lago, 1999); Königin der Nacht in
Die Zauberflöte (Nazionale Reiseopera 1999; As.li.co. Milan 1999/2000; Summer Opera 2000 Milan; Tour Reiseopera, 2001 Holland).

Ms. Cigna has collaborated with diverse important orchestra conductors like: Evelino Pidò, Gary Bertini, Wladimir Jurowsky, Niksa Bareza, Lù Jia, Ton Koopman, Daniele Gatti, Vincent de Kort and Diego Fasolis.
In 2001 she interpreted the role of Amenaide in
Tancredi by Rossini at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice which was very successful both with the audience and the critics. Soon she will give some concerts like J. Brahms's
Ein deutsches Requiem in Vienna and Innsbruck; in 2002 she is making her debut at the Arena di Verona in the role of Anna in
Nabucco and, subsequently, she will make her debut in
Idomeneo at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.
