Arnaud Bernard 

Director

Bernard, after playing in an orchestra, in 1988 he becomes assistant director of Nicolas Joël and works with Jean-Claude Auvray.

In the following years he’s assistant director in some important opera houses and he works on the reprises of some Joël’s works in France and abroad (Romeo et Juliette at London ROH and Lucia di Lamermoor a New York MET).

From 1996 he’s directed some of the major Opera titles: Il Trovatore, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Dama di picche and L’Elisir d'amore in Toulouse (Alvarez’s debut as Nemorino); Roméo et Juliette in Chicago (with Alagna e Gheorghiu), Beijing, Tokyo, Marseille, Lausanne and Bilbao; Les Huguenots and Werther in Martina Franca; Lakmé in Palermo; Luisa Miller and Le Roi de Lahore in Venice; La Bohème in Verona, Zagabria and Saint Petersburg; Rigoletto in Lausanne, Marseille, Nantes and Verona; Falstaff in Macerata, Naples, Lausanne, Zagabria and Buenos Aires; Cavalleria Rusticana in St. Gallen and Ancona; Carmen in Helsinki, Lausanne, Tokyo, Bilbao and Saint Petersburg; La Traviata in Prague, Lausanne and Tokyo; Die Zauberflöte and Thaïs in Athens; La Juive in Saint  Petersburg; Madama Butterfly in Ancona; Tosca in Rome.

Among his recent and future engagements there are Falstaff and Trittico in Budapest, Elisir d’amore with AsLiCo, in Ancona, Brescia and Trento; Romeo et Juliette in Moscow, I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Oslo, Venice, Athens, Verona and in Oman, Manon Lescaut in Lausanne and Triest, Otello in Moscow, La Bohème and Manon Lescaut in Sao Paulo.
