Giovanni Bellucci 
 
Giovanni Bellucci discovered his gift for the piano at the age of fourteen. He received his Diploma in pianoforte with top marks from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, and in 1987 he won various international Competitions including the "Alfredo Casella" of RAI and the "Claude Kahn" competition in Paris and he taught himself to play the complete Beethoven Sonatas. Two years later his performance of Liszt's Totentanz for piano and orchestra was enthusiastically received.

He later studied with the great Russian pianist Lazar Berlman at the Academy of Imola and established contacts with Alfred Brendel, Murray Perahia and Maurizio Pollini. He attracted further attention by winning a number of first prizes at international piano competitions, including the A. Casella-RAI, the F. Busoni in Bolzano and the Queen Elisabeth in Brussels.

He was the first musician from Western Europe to be awarded First Prize at the Prague Spring Competition (1993) in the 45 year existence of this event and in 1996 he was awarded the first and only prize of the World Piano Masters Competition of Monte Carlo, a unique event reserved for prize-winners of the major international competitions.

The pianist's intensive, brilliant, international career was formally launched and since 1997 he has been regularly invited to the United States; in 1999, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra he performed all of Beethoven's Concerti. He has performed as a soloist with famous Orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, L'Orchestra dell'Accademia di Santa Cecilia, the National Orchestra of Ile de France in Paris, la Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI in Turin, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Virtuosi of Prague, he has collaborated with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Philippe Entremont, Jean Claude Casadeus, Eliahu Inbal, Jan Latham-Loenig, Charles Mackerras and Uri Simonov.

Giovanni Bellucci inaugurated the Minato Mirai Hall in Yokohama in Japan; he has also played at the Victoria Hall in Singapore and at the Herkulessaal in Munich, achieving great success from the German critics. The pianist has been famous in France for the past few years, and has played at the Auditorium du Louvre and other important musical halls such as the Théâtre du Châtelet and Salle Gaveau in Paris. He regularly participates in the Festival de la Roque d'Anthéron and also in the Menton, Aix en Provence, Saint-Denis, Besançon and Berlioz Festivals.

He has also performed national recitals for the occasion of the Brescia and Bergamo Festival, Settembre Musica in Turin, Ravello and international Festivals such as the Prague Spring Festival, Société Philharmonique in Brussels, the Beethoven Festival in Lyon and the Bath, Lugano and Hannover Festivals. He has also collaborated with important national theatres such as the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, La Scala in Milan, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Teatro Regio in Parma and the Teatro Bellini in Catania.

As a chamber music player, Giovanni Bellucci collaborates with Leonidas Kavakos, Kim Kashkashian, Paul Meyer and Massimo Quarta, among others. His CDs released by the French label Assai have received international critical acclaim: the prize "Editor's Choice" from the prestigious English magazine Gramophone, the prize "Choc" from the Monde de la Musique for the best record and the acknowledgement of "Exceptional Record" from the Italian magazine Musica and the French Repertoire. For the same label Giovanni Bellucci is recording the complete works of Ferruccio Busoni for piano and orchestra, that he will perform at the Lingotto Auditorium with the RAI Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale.
