Carlo Goldstein 


Carlo Goldstein is one of the young emerging conductors on the international scene. After winning first prize at the International Conducting Competition of Graz in 2009, he began working intensely in Italy and abroad.
In the latest season he conducted Boris Godunov at the Palau de les arts in Valencia, Così fan tutte with the Youth Opera of St. Petersburg, Carmen at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Orchestra Regionale Toscana, the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, the new year’s concert with the Orchestra of Teatro Verdi of Trieste, The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Mendelssohn’s Midsummer night’s dream and a symphonic concert with the Orchestra of Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Sicily. In summer 2012 he conducted Orfeo, a new production at Martinafranca Festival.
At the beginning of this season he has just conducted the Samara Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia and Il Matrimonio Segreto opening the season of Teatro Coccia in Novara, in may he will conduct at Teatro Comunale of Bologna, a concert of the series The Schönberg Experience. In recent past seasons, he has conducted in Russia, the Tomsk Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia, the Omsk Philharmonic Orchestra, the Arkhangelsk Chamber Orchestra, the Murmansk Philharmonic Orchestra, the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Chamber Soloists in Milan’s Sala Verdi. He has also conducted MDI ensemble, Divertimento Ensemble in Pierrot Lunaire by Schönberg and the Archi del Cherubino in the city of L’Aquila.
With a diploma in pianoforte under the guidance of Prof. Giuliana Gulli at the Conservatorio Tartini in Trieste, Carlo Goldstein has continued his education by studying composition, as well as completing the conducting course in Mozarteum of Salzburg, in London’s Royal College of Music and in St. Petersburg.
Carlo Goldstein, in addition to his extensive musical studies, has a degree in Philosophy – Esthetics – from Milan’s Università Statale and has published various pieces on subjects regarding esthetics and musical history. Italy’s Sky satellite classical musical channel, Classica, dedicated an entire episode of their series Notevoli – which features Italy’s emerging young musical talents – to Carlo Goldstein.
