Davit Babayants was born in Armenia and studied classical singing at State Conservatoire in Yerevan. He perfects at the Singing International Academy and at Rossini Academy “Renata Tebaldi-Mario Del Monaco” in Pesaro. He also follows singing courses with Mrs Raina Kabaivanska in Sofia (Bulgaria).
Since 2005 he has been soloist at Yerevan State Opera and Ballet Theatre where he debuts in the role of Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore by Verdi.
Then he interprets the role of Severo in Poliuto by Donizetti, the title roles of Rigoletto and Nabucco by Verdi, Don Prudenzio in Viaggio a Reims by Rossini, Silvio in Pagliacci by Leoncavallo, Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni and Sharpless in Madama Butterfly by Puccini. He has also played other roles in operas by Verdi: Paolo in Simon Boccanegra, Germont in La Traviata and Amonasro in Aida.
In 2011 he participates to the International Singing Competition for Verdian’s voices in Busseto where he is officially recognized as the best baritone and is invited to sing in La Traviata with Marcello Rota.
In 2012 he debuts in the role of Scarpia in Tosca by Puccini in Toronto, Canada. He takes part at Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, at Festival International Conservatoire Week in Saint Petersburg (Russia) and at Raina Kabaivanska’s Gala Concert in Sofia (Bulgaria). He wins the IX International Singing Competition organized by the International Institute for Opera and Poetry in Verona and plays the role of Amonasro in Aida at the Theatre Filarmonico in Verona during the 2011/12 Opera Season.
At Arena di Verona, for the season of the centenary, summer 2013, he plays the role of Germont in La Traviata, with great success, and he sings various arias at the Gala Domingo-Harding, next to Placido Domingo and at the Gala Opera on Ice..
In 2014 David interprets Scarpia in Tosca, singing duets with the soprano Hasmik Papian accompanied by the Armenian Philarmonic Orchesta conducted by Eduard Topchjan. In May he sings the Messa di Gloria by Puccini at Filarmonico Theatre in Verona with a great success. In June David is back again in Verona where he plays, with great success, the roles of Amonasro in Aida amd Sharpless in Madama Buttefly within the Arena Festival 2014.
