The German mezzosoprano Christel Lötzsch was born in 1986 near Dresden. She began her vocal and piano studies at the age of seven in Karlsruhe, where she attended a special school of music, passed with distinction in 2005.
She won the 1 st prize of the Germans Vocal Competition "Jugend musiziert“. From 2005 she studied with Prof. Freiberger and Prof. Lanskoi at the Hochschule für Musik „Franz Liszt“ in Weimar. Since october 2010 she has studied for one year at the Conservatorio "Giuseppe Verdi“ di Milano with Prof. Daniela Uccello to improve the Italian language.
Christel Lötzsch participated in masterclasses with KS Brigitte Fassbaender, Dame Gwyneth Jones, Normas Sharp, Deborah Polaski and KS Prof. Hans Sotin to expand her technical acknowledgments.
As a specialist in trouser roles she contains a wide repertoire, notably for her portrayals of Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Strauss’ Der Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Octavian (Der Rosenkavailer), she is also noted for her bel canto style, lauded for her performances of Bellini’s Romeo in I Capuleti ed i Montecchi, and Rossini’s heroines in Barbiere di Siviglia and La Cenerentola. Furthermore she has also list of many Mozart roles (Idamante, Cherubino, Zerlina, Sesto, Annio, Dorabella).
She is a stipendiary of the "Richard-Wagner-foundation“ in Bayreuth and at the moment she is studying with the important tenor Manfred Jung, first and foremost noted for his Siegfried in the "Ring“ of Bayreuth 1976 with Pierre Boulez and Patrice Chereau. She is a stable member of Semper Oper Dresden Ensemble since august 2011.
