Ms Samuil made her first professional appearances at the Moscow Stanislavsky Music Theatre as Adina in
L’Elisir d’Amore, Adele in
Die Fledermaus and as Shemakh’s Queen in
Le Coq d’Or. She made her European debut singing Violetta in
La Traviata at the opening night of the 2003/04 season at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin with Maestro Barenboim, and has been principal soloist of the Deutsche Staatsoper ever since.
Internationally celebrated soprano, she is a principal soloist at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin where, this season, she can be seen and heard singing the roles of Mařenka in
Bartered Bride (role debut), Tatiana in
Eugene Onegin, Adina in
L’elisir d’amore, Freia in
Das Rheingold, Beethoven IX, with Daniel Barenboim in the annual New Year’s Eve Gala concert,. Outside Berlin her engagements will include new productions of
Don Giovanni (Donna Anna) at the Palau les Arts, Valencia and Arena di Verona as well as Violetta in
La Traviata at Pittsburgh Opera.
Anna Samuil has appeared at Festivals and Opera Houses such as the Metropolitan Opera New York, Teatro alla Scala Milan, Salzburg Festival, Bunka Kaikan Tokyo, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Opera de Vallonie Liege, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Berliner Staatsoper, Pittsburgh Opera, Opera National de Lyon, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Grand Theatre Luxembourg, Deutsche Staatsoper am Rhein Düsseldorf, La Monnaie in Brussels, Teatro di Maestranza in Sevilla, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Aix-en-Provence Festival, Verbier Festival, Edinburgh Festival, Kissinger Sommer Festival, Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Festival de Musique de La Reunion, Festival International du Colmar and the Rheingau Music Festival.
Ms Samuil has worked extensively with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Sir Neville Marriner, Zubin Mehta,
Antonio Pappano, Vladimir Jurowski, Gustavo Dudamel, Placido Domingo and Philippe Jordan to name but a few.
She has given recitals and concerts in Aix-en-Provence, Toulouse, Avignon, Brussels, Valladolid, Lisbon, Prague, Krakow, Wien, Dresden, Bayreuth, Izmir, St. Petersburg, Turin and continues to give recitals throughout Europe together with her husband Matthias Samuil.
